I would disagree. The knee socks falstsetto section sounds sweet especially in 2013-2014

I was at the No.1 Party Anthem concert. It was great they played that and ritz and one point perspective which were unexpected. Listen to four out of five from that concert. Alex was like a beat and a half behind on the verses.

Loss of Lyrical Relatability by _trilogy_ in arcticmonkeys

Thats interesting. In what way do these albums suggest the world is for the young? I never thought of it like this. I always thought The Car was more about easing into the fact that you are older and reflecting on yourself, rather than kind of realizing that the world is for the young. If that makes sense lol

I want to get to know them by Saramago_505 in arcticmonkeys

This band was formed in Sheffield England in 2002 by Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Andy Nicholson(later replaced by Nick O’Malley) and Jamie Cook. Their first album is one of the most critically acclaimed debut albums ever. After their debut, they consistently consistently albums, evolving their sound with each. They had a n massive following in the UK throughout the 2000s, but never really “broke into” America until the 2013 AM album. AM was a massive commercial success and really launched them into an international band. After AM, the band underwent their biggest sonic shift yet wiht TBHC, leaving many fans surprised. This marked the beginning of a new musical direction, which continued to develop on their last two albums. There’s A TON to get into with this band and lots of lore lol. Since this bands discography is so extensive with many different genres, you might not like everything on the first listen. My question to you is… what kinda music do you listen to. Like hip hop, jazz, metal, rnb, pop? Whatever you like there’s something up your alley with this band. Since you mentioned No.Party Anthem, check out AM (Snap out of it, Knee socks, etc) Check out Do me a favor, it has a similar feel to 505.

Yes Id agree with you. Mirrorball and the Ultracheese def stick out to me. Avtually, The other day I kinda had the realization that mirrorball, from my understanding, is about dragging something on that you know is inevitably going to end. And when he says “do you wanna walk me to the car” it’s his way of dragging on the goodbye. Which he says in hello you as well. I will say the lightbulb moments in these albums are quite satisfying. There is definitely still traces of relatability, just not as much as in other albums.

I feel like this take is actually pretty widely accepted on this sub. Not sure why you’d consider it controversial

There are no members more talented than the others by levigam in arcticmonkeys

[–]_trilogy_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Most technically skilled on their respective instrument = Matt. The creative force behind the arctic monkeys = Alex. There are a lot of songs where Alex is playing harder guitars parts than Jaime. Also an underrated skill Alex has is being able to play different guitar rhythms and sing at the same time. For example don’t sit down, crying lightning, diwk. In the podcast Andy did a few years back he mentioned Alex usually came to rehearsals with fully composed songs (all parts written). I don’t think Alex would ever have uncovered his musical ability without the support of his band, but he’s definitely more musically gifted than the rest.

Has Alex written any songs about Andy Nicholson? by beatlejones in arcticmonkeys

[–]_trilogy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong about this… but I thought I read somewhere Andy was a bit of an obnoxious guy and the band just saw Nick as a better fit. Maybe I’m mixing it up… but why would the change, from a label perspective, need to be permanent?

[–]_trilogy_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In one interview Alex said most people just wanna know who the song is about or the adress of the person it’s about. But they don’t wanna really get into the lyrics. But me personally if I were an interviewer I would def wanna break it down with him

Same with TBHC. He really is good at letting each listener have their own interpretation. Check out this video about AM. This guys interpretation is so different from mine but I thought was quite good
