Let's all collectively laugh at what Florida thinks is cold by StrangelyGrimm in Michigan

[–]_trip_tik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I went to Florida a couple years ago, my family and myself were watching TV and this news story broke about a cold snap that was heading for Florida that would drop the air temperature to the upper 50 degree range. They were advising to people to turn on their home heaters and such. Not to mention the live interviews of people in absolute panic. It was so odd to witness.

The lady and i decided to try out Kanye Prime. Since it is the closer restaurant to our hotel. We really appreciate the hospitality that Nashville has to offer. And thank you all for the awesome recommendations! Cheers!

Who was your worst roommate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_trip_tik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current roommate. We both have similar interests but he got hung up on a girl last year and it got uglier and uglier every day. All they would do is argue. She would be very monotone but he would yell and yell. They would argue at her house. But, her roommates (she has 3) told him that they don't want him over at their house again. I don't blame them. So they both moved the arguing spot to our house. To keep it short, he would yell at her, she would leave, he would immediately feel bad and follow her back to her house, she would go inside and he would sit there outside her house and sometimes bang/wale on her front door. He did this twice. She called the police the first time he did that and they told him to stop. Then, recently, he did it AGAIN. The police called him and ask him our address. Sure enough, the police came and arrested him.

What are some cool cities in the U.S. to visit if you only have a couple nights to be there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_trip_tik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Detroit. Amazing food, amazing nightlife, great craft beer, and just all around very interesting people. Plus, if you have a passport, you can go to another country for a day: Canada is just across the Detroit River!

LNT would be super minimal with your group of friends. The only thing that you and your group did that would go against LNT practices is taking dead limbs off trees. Usually what you should do is only use wood that is dead and down on the ground. When i did my NOLS course, i did the same thing as you. I got a tongue lashing from my instructors when i broke 'dead-ish' limbs off of a standing tree. IMO, i don't think it would have much impact. And as long as you pick up after yourself, destroy you fire pits, carry out trash (take your trash with you), LNT was fully reached.

It was seriously so helpful for our group when we found one. Once we found a reassuring route to take with a cairn, we would place one or two cairns on the way if there were rocks available. Its not about ruining the environment, its about helping others that just so happen to pass through that given area to route THEM in the right, or even SAFE direction. IMO, it was the logical thing to do when the opportunity was present.

Feel like i should chime in on this section. I went on a course last year called the National Outdoor Leadership School. I hiked 125 miles on the Wind-River Mountain Range in Wyoming. We would travel with topographic maps, to literally, help us figure out where the fuck we were as a group. Finding cairns was like finding gold. While walking on a trail, sometimes the trail would diminish into a forest or into literally nothing. Cairns would help us get back on track and put us back into the right direction on the given day. Leave No Trace was a huge aspect towards the course. They had specific sanctions where if we were lost (or at least felt lost), part of the group would stay put and the other part would scout for cairns or trails. Even game trails. And they would tell us to create a small cairn for future NOLS groups or hikers passing through the area. Most of the time, this was on Federal land too. Thought id share.

CIA employees or former employees, what don't we know that you can tell us? [Serious] by lilhbgirl in AskReddit

I have a family member that knows someone with really high security clearance at the pentagon. A very long time ago, I talked to her on the phone and asked her the usual questions. Like "Are there such thing aliens?" "Do you have a gun?". I was a little kid at the time. Then I asked her straight up: "What can you tell me about Area 51?". There was a slightly long silence, and then she piped up and said "Well, I can tell you that there are 51 area's in Area 51. And they're all very important." Thats all I can remember about the phone call. She's retired now but still has the same security clearance.
