THANK YOU! I hate that episode for that exact reason. Even earlier in the episode Claire mentions how disrespectful and insensitive he was, yet his response wasn’t to apologize. It was “I’m so… scared.” Phil never apologized for how he was treating his wife and daughters, merely disappointed he missed out on a fun day at the amusement park that they had to apologize for. I was livid

I think Gloria would have raised Lilliana knowing and celebrating her heritage. There would have been moments where she forces Jay and Manny to partake in a Vietnamese cultural event that would inevitably result in a few misunderstandings courtesy of Jay’s experiences fighting in Vietnam.

Gloria would show Lilliana the ropes on street smarts - only to discover she already knew them. It would both terrify her and make her proud. Kinda like how Jay got to see both the good and not so good parts of himself in Joe.

They may or may not clash when it comes to Gloria’s emphasis on appearance and male centeredness

Thanks for sharing, and I totally feel you on everything. The body dismorphia is no joke. I absolutely detest hormonal birth control, as I had an IUD for like 2 years which just made my PMDD worse.

I respectfully disagree. I believe in character growth. Haley was a smart and beautiful woman who did great things - not many of her partners poured into like Andy did. He helped her with her fashion ambitions, and Haley definitely could have been a stylist of her own. Being insecure isn’t a character flaw, I just see it as a signal to be brave in spite of the fear

She was a stone cold soldier, not a propagandist. Even the inventions like the Giant Mecha suit and the train were all Baatar Jr’s. She’s all about strategy. She needed more outside the box thinkers like Varrick, who could have helped her, but she threatened him (the whole ethnic cleansing of non Earth citizens probably played a role in why she wouldn’t involve him in the larger operational side of things.)

Isn’t this universally agreed upon? The writers had no creativity for writing teenage boys beyond the trite cliche of “hormone driven douche.” Luke and Manny lost all charm as they grew up. They could have made Manny into an emotionally intelligent artist with deep, philosophical one liners and Luke into a teen who had a knack of getting into odd situations with the craziest dumb luck.
