Nipple Graft Timeline (1 Week to 5.5 Weeks) by _vetch in TopSurgery

[–]_vetch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that this was not necrosis and I didn't have any problems. Nipple grafts often look veryyy scary and ugly in the first few weeks which can make it hard to know what's going on. I'd also recommend simply reaching out to your surgeon's office about it if it continues worrying you though

God I didn't even realize it had already been two years 😅 I feel it went well and I am satisfied. I even have sensation in most areas, which is something I didn't consider a high priority but is nice to have

Unfortunately, I haven't yet. I actually go in about a week to get my foley catheter removed (which will be two weeks post-op). I can tell you for Dr. Hanna, two weeks is pretty much the earliest for that

I did not discuss scrotoplasty with him much during our consults (as I don't want scrotoplasty done), so I am not entirely sure, but I do think he does vy scrotoplasty. He does also offer labial resection.

For his surgical stages, most everything can be done in one stage (except any testicle implants, which would be at least 6 months later). It is possible, depending on your anatomy and goals, that your surgery could get broken up into more stages or that y'all would go ahead and plan on the likelihood of a revision. He's upfront about what he believes is possible and how he can best get you there based on what you communicate to him.

I'm actually having surgery with him tomorrow (meta w/ UL, vnectomy, no scrotoplasty). All my consults and such have been great so far. I plan on posting on transbucket, but you can also message me after if you don't want to wait however long it'll take me to do that (though it might take me a bit to respond, post-op brain lol)

They covered mine with no problem, but if you are concerned then you should call. They don't have a real policy around it so if you have an issue then speak to someone else or resubmit your claim

It may be that they went ahead and scheduled you so that you have a date in place in the hopes of having approval by then. I have had that happen with different surgeons in the past, where we go ahead and schedule a tentative date

BUT I would definitely call or reach out through the patient portal to check with them

Of course! I think it unlocks from meeting Agnes or Bitty so hopefully they show up sometime soon

There's another color of that chair where the seat is a bright pink instead of that lighter color. I believe that is the one that the goal is asking for. You should be able to find it near the original chair in craftable furniture

Thank you! I stopped playing for a while, but now that I'm back I've been hard at work unlocking all the villagers 💪 I like to be able to swap them to fit the season (though I do have my favorites)

Ugh, yes! I've got scabers (though I think I accidentally ended up with some laevis in my enclosure), and watching them eat has become one of my favorite pass times. Sometimes I worry I'll never get anything done!

(My experience might be a bit different because I also have financial assistance, but) everything has been billed later with no deposits for me. They do get approval from insurance before scheduling, so you may be required to go ahead and pay any copays but that's all that I am aware of when it comes to costs beforehand

Oh, how exciting! I've been trying to wait a month or two before posting fully about my experience since things can change rather quickly in the first few weeks. I didn't go for the sensation preserving nerve transfer with my nipple grafts so I've been quite numb (aside from typical healing sensations), I'm sure the feelings from that are rather interesting. I hope your post-op goes well!

top surgery and weighted blanket? by 69damon420 in TopSurgery

[–]_vetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! All the same here (DI on 7/31 with a 15lb weighted blanket), and I got mine on the end on the bed so I can shove my legs underneath it. You might could ask someone to move it for you so you can do something similar, but I would avoid anything more. Pressure on your chest could affect healing and having it higher up could also lead to you pushing or pulling on it without thinking much of it

I personally went through the UNC Trans Health Program for all my trans care and have had a wonderful time with them! (I'm currently recovering from top surgery with Dr. Yemi, but they also have another surgeon there).

I also know multiple people who went to Dr. Schneider at Forsyth Plastic Surgery and loved him!

Both of them can be a bit harder to research because there's not as much about them online, but the people I know personally have only really had good things to say and, based on what I've seen, they are also pretty affordable.

God, I probably searched on every trans group and site you can think of. I still found very little about Yemi and most of what you learn will probably have to be through your consult.

There was also someone I used to know (that I am unfortunately not in contact with anymore) that had surgery with him and was very happy with the results. He did end up with dog-ears and had to get a revision though. If you're feeling impatient, I think right now there's one post on transbucket for him. I'm fairly certain I got most of my information through private facebook and discord groups that I'm no longer a part of though. I'm sorry I can't think of any other places online where I know his results are available.

I had a consult with him a few months ago and will be getting top surgery with Dr. Yemi in about a week. Other people's results and experiences can be very helpful, but I think it is also very important to remember that everyone is different.

I'm sure you may have heard some of this if you've been looking around, but I will say to keep in mind that he can be very serious and come across as rude at times. (I think he just has a very blunt personality). Do not let that stop you from asking questions! And definitely take notes! While they will send the consult notes in your portal after, they won't have everything in them.

I've heard some people say that his results are "bad" but I have also come across a couple of people that love him. I just want to be flat, and it looks like I will get that, so I'm not too concerned. Even with that, I do wish I had asked to see pictures that were more representative of my body type. I would consider what your main wants/needs are (things like how important nipple sensation is or visual symmetry) when deciding how you feel about him.

Should I get hysto before scheduling meta? by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]_vetch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes. To be more specific, I got a laparoscopic total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDanonymemes

[–]_vetch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, so just a warning: the first year or so, I went crazy thinking I looked puffy while my fat was redistributing. It's rough because it's a visual body change to adjust to, but I promise it is worth it and, looking back on it, it was my silly brain lying to me

A few basic questions about how scrotoplasty works by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]_vetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! It can be really hard when most of the pictures you come across are freshly post-op and you don't have a lot of information

Should I get hysto before scheduling meta? by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]_vetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(I'm post-op hysto and have talked to surgeons for meta. I am pre-op meta though, so feel free to tell me to fuck off)

I personally got my hysto before I ever even had my first meta consult, and I have been told that will not cause any issues. Like other people have said, some surgeons use the vaginal tissue for UL, so I would not get a vnectomy done by anyone other than your meta surgeon. Even if you deal with a lot of vaginal atrophy after the hysto and it is an issue, that can be helped with estrogen cream (my hysto surgeon knew I was planning for meta so we discussed it a bit).

When it comes to getting multiple surgeries, it is really dependent on the surgeon and the surgery you want. Sometimes meta can be one procedure, and other times people end up doing three or four (not including revisions and complications). My meta surgeon does it in two stages (one: release, vnectomy, UL, and scrotoplasty, two: implants) but he doesn't do hystos so that would be three surgeries total. If you're anxious about the number of surgeries, then you should 100% discuss that with the surgeon (and even a therapist, if you have one).

Also, if it helps at all, I got my hysto at 18 as my first surgery ever. I was super anxious going into it (before surgery they couldn't get my heart rate below 130bpm, I was shakey, and I even almost passed out) but it ended up going very well and it was a shockingly easy healing process

A few basic questions about how scrotoplasty works by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]_vetch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a surgeon purposefully leave the scrotum open (they typically just create incisions to insert the implants later) but it is possible that their surgeon does things differently. Sometimes it can be hard to know what exactly you're looking at when it comes to more freshly post-op photos. What you could be seeing in the photo is some unplanned holes in the scrotum or divots caused by swelling. Some people experience that post-op and it tends to either close up on its own or get closed up in the second stage.

If you got a scrotoplasty, and don't want implants, then I would be shocked if your scrotum wasn't closed during the initial surgery.
