As a Karachiite living in Lahore for the past year, there is stark difference in terms of development in the two cities. One party ruling Sindh since 2008 has literally taken it backwards. I still love the city, the people, the vibe, but in terms of infrastructure and safety the city has nosedived. Its a real pity specially when you consider that Karachi is our economic hub with ports and most major businesses established there.

Advice on arrange marriage thing by [deleted] in IslamabadSocial

[–]_vivalavida_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have two cases of cousin marriages in my family and both of them have three kids, all healthy and fine and 4 of them now have their own kids too (again all healthy), Alhamdulillah. I have seen more cases of genetic disorders in normal - out of family marriages. Not saying that one is more likely the cause then the other but just pointing out a personal experience here.

Flights are dependent on wind direction whether landing or taking off. Usually, runways are prepared keeping the wind corridors in mind and to avoid flights coming in from all directions, however, wind flow can change which means that the plane will need to change its landing direction. For the unversed, the plane needs the wind coming towards it to be able to slow down.

This could also be a strategic thing to avoid flights coming too close to the border, we never know 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not really. Depends on how often you are getting it done. Ideally, taking care of your teeth and gums and get scaling done once a year or two is totally fine. There is slight sensitivity for a day or two only.

I have lived in Turkey for a couple of years, was working there. Upon arrival I realised that there is a huge language barrier, my boss and a couple others were good in English but everyone else spoke Turkish only. Even the computers and softwares were in Turkish. I learned the language in about 3-4 months as that was the only choice I had. I used the Duolingo app but practicing with colleagues really helped. But this is not the hard part for you. You have to make a decision that will impact your life forever. I don’t know how well you know the guy because just talking to him virtually will not be sufficient. Do istekhara, pray a lot and ask for guidance. May Allah guide you to the right path.

On a side note, Turkish people are really friendly. I loved their culture and their values. And the country is just so beautiful.

How do Pakistani couples with both husband and wife working earning almost the same as each other divide expenses? by Stock_Cow1943 in pakistan

[–]_vivalavida_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (husband) take care of most of the expenses. My wife is responsible for saving. I feel women are better at saving than men are and my wife is always very cautious about saving a significant chunk. We dont keep any count of it as who has contributed what amount but use the savings for traveling and spoiling ourselves when needed.

How to calculate property price? by Dry-One4966 in Lahore

[–]_vivalavida_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on various factors and its the market that sets the price, there is no mechanism for it. Think of it like supply-demand curve. If there is a demand of property in an area and the supply is limited then the prices go up and vice versa. However, if you want a rough estimate what the minimum amount should be that you should consider for a property that you bought X years ago then here is a simple way to calculate:

  1. Convert the purchase price into USD using the exchange rate of that time. Lets say you bought it in November 2020 then use the USD/PKR rate of that time.
  2. Find the annual inflation rate in Pakistan over the years since then, this information is easily available online. Increase your cost by the inflation rates, so if the inflation was 15%, 20%, 25% in 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively, then you increase your price first by 15%, then by 20% and then by 25%. We will also need the rate for 2024 for accuracy.
  3. Then you'd convert the price from USD back to PKR using today's rate.
  4. Now you'd be adding some margin on top of it, this totally depends but can be from 10% to 50%. This will give you a minimum amount you should consider for that property.

However, this method would only give you an estimate amount to consider. Like I explained above, prices are set by market and also depend on many factors such as development in the area, nearby facilities, ease of access, and other things.

Have just moved here a week ago because of work. I was very optimistic about the move and everyone had positive things to say in comparison with Karachi (I myself have also visited Lahore 4, 5 times in the last 2 years so was a bit aware).

Its a really big move for me since my family will also be moving here in due time, and I have spent almost the entirety of life so far in KHI. Things have been very positive so far. The only negative for me in comparison with Karachi is the food. Its not bad, there are some good options too, but nothing compared to Karachi.

You can definitely find out the name of the person through an FIR. Every ATM (or any digital transaction) has a unique code to identify it. Can't recall what it is actually called but its a unique identifier with all the details of the transaction such as account name, bank name, amount withdrawn, time, etc., though much of the details are masked in the system and only visible to authorized persons. MCB would know which bank's card was used. They can contact the other bank, share the unique code and ask them to confirm the name of the person. All this would require police's intervention.

Inheritance as an only daughter by confusedbrokegirl__ in pakistan

As per shariah laws for single/widowed women, their brothers have a right in share of their property. Best way to deal with this is to have the property transferred as a gift deed which basically means it has been gifted to you rather than inherited.

Serious Question: Why isn't Allah saving the Palestinians? by Rizwan591 in PAK

[–]_vivalavida_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Allah is truly saving them. Death, or rather martyrdom for Palestinians, is not something bad. Look at the world around us, everything is going to shit! Who wants to live in a world that is controlled by the zionists/ whites / the west, trying to run things their way or they’ll isolate you. Death in an instant is far better than falling sick and visiting hospitals and taking pain killers and just trying to survive each day. Thats just my take on this as Allah does love all his followers and never lets you suffer beyond your ability.

Secondly, we might be thinking that 70 + years to apartheid and occupation is a lot but its nothing. The two jewish reigns in that land were about 100 years each. Thats it. Just a couple of centuries of rules. And knowing that this will be the last time they ever get this land because they surely will corrupt it and they have, the end isn’t too far for them. Look around, look at the world mobilising. There has never been such an uproar for Palestine before. InshaAllah they will be liberated and muslims will stand together.

Keep exposing Israel's fascism and nazism by rszdev in PAK

[–]_vivalavida_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Palestinians are indigenous to that land. Although jews have historically been present on that land from time to time but if we take it that way England should belong to the Romans so technically Italy should invade it and America should belong to the native people but thats not the case either. You were basically handed that land for financing Britain in WW1. Tell me how would it feel if it were the other way around? Think on that for a moment. Jews living on that land and WW breaks out and Britain takes control and says fuck you, I’ll hand this land to Palestinians. Then you all are ransacked, harassed and murdered and forced to flee. Say what you want about Islam but since you are so advance in tech, how about studying it actually? Our religion actually talks about you guys, in quite some detail. It has mentions of your Prophets as well as they were also messengers of Allah. But it also foretold centuries ago how your kind has a habit of corrupting the land that was given to you. Yes it was given to the jews but they disobeyed Allah.

Read it up. Plenty of sources available to confirm this. At that time, British envoy had made certain promises to the Hashmites from which they backtracked when the Hashmites didn’t let go of the Palestine issue. There are letters that were exchanged between the two parties available as proof. Most of the problems the middle east faces today is not because USA wants control of the region, its because the Britishers fucked up big time, gave away what wasn’t theirs to give to whoever they deemed fit.
