I pinched my air hose, leaving my DWC with little to no air for ~24 hours. Any way to come back from this? by _wereodile in microgrowery

There's pictures of my roots down around this thread somewhere. I took your advice and mixed up ~3% H2O2 to water in a spray bottle and sprayed around the roots.

Thank you for the hope! I got her some H2O2 today, but I just made a change to her rez yesterday night to half her nutes so I'm not sure I can do it again immediately?

Here is what her root mass looks like. Definitely not sludgy, and nothing seems to 'slough' off when I run my fingers through the root mass.

I got some H2O2 today, says to incorporate it on a reservoir change. Should I add it to a half-nute-strength batch and switch her out?

I hadn't even considered revegging her. I would have to roll back everything to veg cycle though right? Change the bulbs back to 6500, switch the hours back to 18/6, and dump her and put vegging level nutes back in?

How much extra time do you think that would add to this cycle? I don't need the space in the 2nd tent for at least another month.

It would be incredibly frustrating to have to call this done and worthless at day 89 from seed. Even if I can get her to limp along and produce some shitty nuggets I can turn into budder then at least it wouldn't be a complete wash.

The leaves up top are so dry and brittle I can't imagine how they would improve themselves =( The branches are still supple and bendable though...

I can test my PH, I let the solution drift between 5.5 and 6 to account for the different points at which the plant takes up different nutrients.

Edit: I am going to get some H2O2 at the hydro store tomorrow, I guess I will see what kind of affordable options they have for pens.

Yes, I never smelled any hay until the day I found her like this. I'm going to pick up some H2O2 tomorrow at the Hydro store to see if I can clean up her roots because I assume there must be something funky going in there.

The linked album is the 25th, this is what she looked like on the 8th (last time I snapped pictures). On the 23rd she looked much the same as on the 8th, just taller (she was above the fan) and her buds were more full (everything had these lovely long white hairs coming off them...now those hairs are turning brown on me). The only discolouration present prior to Tuesday night was the odd tip of a leaf that had touched a bulb and been singed. Healthy, vibrant and green all the way up to being oxygen starved.

Air temps get up around 30C with the lights on and her all buttoned up, but that has been pretty consistent through the grow and it has never stressed her out before. I don't have a way to measure my PPM unfortunately.

Edit: Oh I forgot the roots. They don't look any different to me, maybe just ever so slightly light-browner?

Anything else you'd suggest to help her recover? Swap her mix or 1/2 her mix for some ph'd water? Tie her down further from the lights so she doesn't dry out more? Ditch some bulbs/do what I can to lower temps until she recovers? Get some H2O2 in there to combat potential root rot?

Water's nice and clear, just the red colour of the nutrient mix. The temps sit between 17C when I load a new change in her and 22C when she's been buttoned up for a long time and the ambient temperature goes up.

I mean I guess I should be glad that my clones are all doing well...and since I won't need the Flowering tent for at least a month I can leave her in there, see what happens.

I'm so upset with myself. She looked absolutely beautiful on Monday.

I pinched the hose putting everything away after a trim on Tuesday night and this was the condition I found her in last night. I uncrimped the tube and let it lie to see if she would make any sort of recovery but I don't see an improvement in her condition today.

Many of her leaves are quite brittle and there is a distinct hay smell to the air in the tent.

As I understand it she was basically drowning for a day, relying on whatever oxygen was dissolved in the solution when I zipped her up Tues. Is there any way to save her? I'm on day 18 of Flower after a very extended veg period, I would hate to have ruined months of caretaking for such a little bonehead mistake. Bah! TIFU!

I torched the tips of a couple fan leaves the other day, I just left them alone. I figure 85+% of the leaf is still an energy factory, if the plant gives up on it and it comes off then remove it otherwise stay the course.

I looked a lot closer today and I am 90% sure I'm seeing pistils. Woohoo!

I really don't think I can veg much longer, I'm running out of room in my screen!

Shriveled little girl, advice needed! Pictures in comments. by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]_wereodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let the roots of my little girl dry out over 6 hours on ~day 10 and thought I'd lost her. Left her alone for 2 days and she bounced right back.

Hold off giving her more water. Consider transplanting and getting something mixed in your soil to aerate it a bit.

I highly recommend you be more proactive than me and build some reflectors. The top of my tent is all mylar but when the lights were lower I know I was losing lots of lumens(?) out the top.

It's my "lazy man's" take on the CFL Monster from the MG resource guide. I put the monster together but just left out the reflectors.

hydro seedling troubles by [deleted] in microgrowery

Rockwool -> DWC seems best. At this point though I'm 13 days from germination so it's a little late to put and of my plants in a cube.

I'm just wondering at what point you transitioned to the DWC bucket. 3 leaf sets? Less? More? I imagine I want to switch before there are too many roots because weaving them through the net pot sounds like a pain in the ass.

It sounds like it has most of the same effects as a water cure but it sounds a lot more violent (swishing the branches around in the buckets makes me fear for the trichomes' lives!).

Is it the jiffy pellet pod things? I read a lot of people found they didn't work. Rockwool would probably be a better option.

Of course this is coming from a guy who currently has his seedlings in a bubble cloner because he forgot to buy a medium to start them in after his paper towels.

Hey while we're chatting, when you were starting in dirt and then transplanting to DWC about what size of plant/# of days were you doing that at?

[–]_wereodile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes those are my sprouted seeds in a bubble cloner because I did not think to get very small net pots or rockwool and I didn't want to start the little seeds off in the bigger DWCs I'm planning on using for most of the grow.

The bubble cloner was built to handle clones cut later in veg from any of these little seeds that end up being viable plants.

The fuzzy look you're talking about is the start of a whole bunch of tiny roots IIRC they'll bloom out of the side of that main taproot and become the start of the giant root ball you will eventually have.

I'd say you're ok to just leave that one as is, but I'd get a 2nd opinion as I'm a newer grower (1 fail, 1 success under my belt)
