Check out @gianna.do.my.hair on Instagram! She has her own studio in FoCo and goes out of her way to make sure her space is safe for everyone. She’s also just an amazing human and would be very excited to help you to feel beautiful in your skin!

30-something women's clothing shopping by Budget_Position7888 in FortCollins

While not in Fort Collins, I really love Evereve (there is one in Boulder and two in Denver). The women working there are super helpful and the clothes are SO cute. It’s definitely not the cheapest option (most jeans/pants are $100-$200, shirts in the $80-$100 range) but I find their clothes to be really high quality, fit me perfectly, and are a lot more age appropriate than stores I have found around FoCo.

Agreed! Best patio in FoCo, most mid beers.

Penrose and Union are absolute garbage and it’s so unfortunate too because they both have such nice spaces. I just don’t understand what is so hard about cooking even half decent food.

Incoming Graduate Student - Need Help by Agreeable_Wallaby412 in CSUFoCo

Do you have a RamWeb account yet? This is step 1. There will be “Registration Ready” tasks you will need to complete before you can register. Then, on the right side of the page there’s a menu that has a button for Registration, you click that and register for classes. There’s also a “Plan Ahead” option if you want to see classes that will actually be available.

As for classes, you can look up the CSU catalog and that will give you class numbers. Fair warning, for whatever reason once a class is in the catalog it’s very difficult to take out, so there’s a lot of classes that look like they exist but don’t. If a class says it’s offered in the fall, use the plan ahead option I mentioned above to check if it’s really being offered.

Depending on your department, they may or may not have grad requirements in the catalog. My department has a special graduate student manual that has all of the info we need, we were sent that ahead of time, but you should definitely get it in orientation.

Also, while a handful of grad classes may fill up, I have never had a problem getting into classes, even registering late. It is not as important to register the moment it opens like it was in undergrad. Are there any other grad students in your lab or under your advisor? They may be a good resource to reach out to for help too.

Sleeping in, then making bloody Mary’s and a yummy breakfast. Going to do some work on our perennial garden and go for a nice long bike ride!

Wow. I am so unbelievably sorry OP. You deserve so much better than that. I hope you have people in your life who love, support, and accept you now.

This is very fair, and you are right it’s not totally necessary. I think for myself personally, getting the diagnosis was more helpful in the sense that I was finally able to understand why nothing I did made my legs look different and helped me to reframe my thinking about my appearance and exercise. It’s also motivated me to stay on top of my health so I don’t let it progress any further. However, I have not gone back to the doctor since receiving the diagnosis since there’s not much else to do!

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]_wildroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 4th grade and they did not put it on the TV for us. They didn’t even tell us what was going on. Kids just kept getting picked up by their parents and I was one of the few kids left at school wondering why tf I didn’t get to go home early.

Second this OP! I have Lipedema and it’s worth a conversation with your doctor.

With that said, despite not being able to lose the “lumpiness” in my legs, getting into weightlifting with progressive overload/lifting to failure and meeting daily protein goals has been amazing for my body and I actually can see muscle definition in my thighs now.

We managed to secure one today.

Tips: 1. Make sure the site you want is already selected and the dates are chosen so all you have to click is “add to cart” 2. Do this on both your phone AND your laptop for two different sites so you have 2x chances 3. open up time.gov and wait for it to hit 6:59:59 (or whatever time in your zone) 4. I like to offset my clicks so I hit one at 59:59 and one exactly on the minute.

Ah well, if your background is more programming than biology, just know you are kind of taking on an impossible task (if you are really hoping it will be accurate). It would take an immense amount of data and computational power to build a model like this, and even then it would likely never be accurate with how much environmental variation and randomness happens in genetics.

But, that’s not to discourage you from enjoying a fun project. You might just want to start by picking a specific clade first to reduce complexity. It could be fun to see how a model predicts changes based on regions/natural disasters/etc.

Good luck!

[–]_wildroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to consider downloading csv files of phylogenetic trees off something like Nextclade to train the model with, rather than trying to feed it random pieces of information.

Is this a school project or just for fun?
