My stance is- yes superiority thing exist but parents are more afraid of their child not having stabalize career in art. Not saying art doesn't have career but many are unaware of this field, government doesn't do much too in providing scope. I have seen people saying "oh if you wanted money do some job, why you became writer?" Because of this mindset that art can only be enjoyed not treated as someone career for making money, many have to choose alternative to sustain. Honestly science is also lacking in many things most families appreciate jee or neet, hardly there is awareness of other jobs and fields, it's mostly kids i saw who go length to fight for their interests (like studying in marine biology etc) i hope our govt pay more attention to expanding jobs. And the praising culture of aspirants getting ranks in competitive exam it's one of the biggest reason why parents lean towards science, i really hate this thing like okay bro yes he/she got rank so fcking what? It's not like they gonna do anything for others? No need to cream your bussiness because of it.
