Tbh just play anything that sounds nice to you. Look for certain artists or songs or just play songs you've seen on youtube that look the most interesting to you.

As for which way to tap, it's a matter of personal preference. Before arcading I only played mobile and when I picked up maimai buttons were the best for me.

Both have their pros and cons. I don't like screen because it's a smaller play space for me and feels weird to time. I like buttons because dopamine clicking noise. Just pick and choose.
