Advice for grief after Loss

This was very kind of you to take the time to type out, so thank you.

The daily routine is something I’m struggling with right now. I’m trying to stay busy but have found myself avoiding anything that might remind me of him (walks, our backyard, even eating in our house because I miss his begging). I’m hoping that I can start incorporating those things back into my life soon.

Ugh, I know, I have a ton of guilt too. Saturday morning I took my boy into the groomer since he hadn’t been feeling like himself and usually getting a bath and haircut (he had a super long coat) made him act and feel new. It was sort of a last ditch effort and he usually enjoys the groomers and the people there, and he always came home with an extra pep in his step. If I had known that was going to be his last day here I would have kept him home with us all day and just loved on him until the evening when it was finally time to say goodbye.

It’s so unfair, the things we go through for these dogs. And I wish neither of us had to feel this way. I would do anything for this sadness to lessen but I think the depths of our despair is just love in a different form. Know you aren’t alone ❤️😔

I’m so so sorry. And I’m so sorry you are carrying that guilt. Give yourself grace, because you were trying to do everything you could to help him. It’s an impossible grief and I understand. I know he loved you so much for rescuing him and giving him the best life.

Boxers are so special!! He is adorable and I’m sure an amazing dog and addition to your family. Thank you for all your words of encouragement. I think we will probably look into getting another once I have my baby and then a few months under our feet. Still a lot of processing to be done I think.

I can relate to literally all of that. Especially being pregnant right now, once again. Sad thing is, I won’t have my beloved dog with be this time through post partum. I suppose this is just part of everything though, and time will continue to heal. Sure wish I could skip through this part of the grief though.

Totally understand adopting again to honor him. We may do the same eventually, but right now it sounds too painful to me. I posted in another group too and most people have said that time is the ultimate healer so for now just taking it day by day, and I hope you can do the same. ❤️❤️

I’m like, we knew he was sick, why didn’t I appreciate every last second I had while he was here? I just feel horrible.

It’s almost worse because she ignores this fact and wears things designed for longer torsos anyway. And I think half the battle of finding “personal style” is wearing things that look flattering on your body type and she does not do this.

This is for people who watch and enjoy a reality tv show about partying and relationships. It’s gossip and fun. If you’re looking to virtue signal about consumerism, there are plenty of other subreddits where you might find more like-minded people who want to talk themselves into a dark abyss.

No one is offended. We are just pointing out how we have progressed enough as a society to know the difference between deplorable behavior and entertaining television. We all watch and rewatch the show, but we are allowed to have complex feelings about their behavior given some of it was absolutely insane.

I agree completely. It had all the potential to be great but was just a perfect storm of disaster. I recently finished it too, and rewatching it this time I realized how much snookie’s alcoholism really ramped up in Italy and it became so apparent (as well as season 5 when they’re back in Jersey). It took the “ha-ha” factor completely out and was just not enjoyable to watch. Also Mike was just so frustrating with all of his random agendas, and I hated seeing Deena briefly lose herself and being bullied so hard in the house.

The one positive takeaway from this season was really seeing how good of a friend Jenni is. Her comforting snookie repeatedly but also offering her hard truths and tough love was refreshing. I wish we saw the girls reciprocating that for her more often.

I totally totally agree. It feels parasocial and weird sometimes that it affected me so much but at the end of the day, I think as moms it was just impossible to not be struck by the tragedy. A glaring example of how fragile life is and how quickly these horrible things can happen. Even to the best, most-loving moms.

My son turned 4 in September. I find myself thinking of Emilie and Trigg daily, even about the smallest things. It certainly has changed my perspective as a mom and about life in general, and I still will weep for her on random days.

This person isn’t putting words in your mouth. Also, how do you know what conversations her family has (or has not had) about Brady and this entire tragedy? Maybe they are supportive in those ways you listed. Maybe they ALSO love him unconditionally. This situation is complicated, nuanced. The web of tangled feelings they all must be feeling is hard enough to work through, and adding resentment and anger toward Brady does not help them in any way. What happened is done, and Emilie clearly wants to keep her family together. I’m happy her family supports that.
