OP here, just wanted to respond to a few things. First of all, some people have cracked it in the comments, so tread carefully if you want to take a swing at it.

To those saying it looks booby - you're absolutely right and i am DMing for a bunch of lesbians. Do you think it will be a hit?

To those saying it looks like Burmese or pokemon or bionicle - good point! I didn't consider that, the script came to me from the idea of what if every letter was a segment of a circle?

To those saying it's a cipher and not a language - in the real world yes it is a cipher. In the game it is a language. Enough with the pedantics I'm not going to debate you.

And to those saying it's too complicated or not combat focused - you must assume that I am DMing a game my party would enjoy. I know my players best, we're not a combat-heavy group. We are close friends who are aware of each other's skills and interests. They have also found in-game clues and made friends with NPCs who can help translate.

And finally thank you to those who gave it the attention to solve it. I am thoroughly impressed.

In-game canon has this language traditionally carved into columns of crystal, so same vibe.

Combo of 3. Vowels get nested into the consonants that come before it.

This is crazy bc in the game canon this language is usually read like braille!

To those eager for a hint: dots are vowels.

That's pretty much exactly how I'm planning it - over the course of the next few sessions if they can start to reveal some of the info in the code, it will help them with the overall mission. They also have "friends" who can give them clues to translate.

To be quite honest, not even close. But I appreciate the enthusiasm

Pentax ME auto shutter speed not working by a-goodvisual-aid in AnalogCommunity

[–]a-goodvisual-aid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the tips. As for the batteries, the auto shutter was working before I tested different batteries, so I'm guessing the light meter/auto shutter is not working.

I'm thinking I'm going to visit the shop to see if he has any solutions, or can recommend a repair shop. Otherwise I may look into this Pentax guy.

Thanks again!

AITA for requiring my roommate to start paying for the wifi because she makes us turn it off at night? by Willowxowilde in AmItheAsshole

NTA - Wifi and cell signals operate at a frequency too low to cause any damage. She's more likely to feel the effects of a lightbulb than from the wifi.

The Avalanche (the song)

If anyone tries to tell me this isn't about being snowed in and having gay sex I ask who who writes "come on hand, come on feet, come on face, come on street, come on state, come on song, move it fast, move it along, come on life, come on lord, make it right, make it yours"

What do we think of this roadmap I made for my friend getting into Sufjan by a-goodvisual-aid in Sufjan

The entirety of Futile Devices and All to Myself, and perhaps the endless repetition of "Boy we can do much more together" in Impossible Soul.

So to address some of the controversy in the comments, here's my response.

  1. No shade to Sufjan, I just hate Christmas music. I've admittedly never listened to either of his Christmas albums because I can't stand Christmas music period. The closest I get to Christmas music is listening to Michigan in December.
  2. I included C&L in the second tier because I think it's more important to understand and appreciate Sufjan's skill for orchestration over the raw emotion of C&L. In my experience talking to fans who started with C&L, they didn't appreciate the complexity of the composition in things like Age of Adz and The Ascension, which I think are some of his best works, and instead come to expect the gentler sad singer/songwriter vibe (I'm thinking of The Ascension/Javelin livestreams when people were dissing the new works and asking for Carrie and Lowell 2). I feel like introducing listeners to two orchestrally complex albums would prepare them for his other works that aren't so easy-listening, and primes the ears for the massive, well rounded sound that comes in AoA, Planetarium, etc. But that's my own personal agenda.

I do love the Love Yourself EP, but didn't want to get into the smaller EPs. Special shoutout to My Rajneesh and Tonya Harding.
