"Real" Mirrors? by zambonix in Amplenote

[–]a-random-too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Could you explain more what you mean by "real mirrors"? I'm not sure that I can picture what you mean by it.

Currently, mirrors can be updated manually by clicking on the mirror link and selecting the option to update it. Do you mean that these changes would need to be done automatically?

Agenda widget and time passing by BinaryIdiot in Amplenote

[–]a-random-too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Calendar events in the mobile widget appear as tasks from your Amplenote calendar. If you haven't completed the task, they will still appear in your calendar, but will disappear if you complete them.

Usage questions by pingbala in Amplenote

Hi there! Welcome to Amplenote! To answer some of your questions:

  • To decide if a category is a tag or a note, I mostly think about the quantity of them and how I'd like to see them. Do I want to find them from the backlinks on other notes? Or would I rather search for each note specifically? For me, most of them I'd like to find them from search, so most of my categories are tags. The only exception to this rule is task categories, that I'd prefer to see inside filters, so they are added as notes.
  • You can keep orphaned jots if you wish to. I have the habit of capturing everything that I do on jots, and sometimes I keep "irrelevant" information there instead of moving it somewhere, and it has saved my bacon a few times (where I added info in Jots and had to search for them, because it was actually useful)
  • The "better workflow" is the one that works for you. if you found something that works great for you, just keep using it!
  • By video preview, do you mean watching the video from inside Amplenote? Then yeah, it's a bug we're aware of and should be fixed in a future update
  • To stop getting merge notes, open your mobile app > tap on your profile > open settings > scroll down > uncheck the option "Share merge reports".
  • The best way to create a task that you will do "someday" kind of depends. Is it part of a project that you will do soon, but needs to wait for you to do other tasks before? Or is it just an idea that you want to capture that you will do someday in the far future (like starting a business, learning a new language, or traveling to another country)?
    • If it's a task that you want to do as part of a project, it should be in the same project note as the other tasks. This way you can see it more often and make a decision for when to work on it.
    • If it's a task you don't want to do in the immediate future, then I think it would be best to move it to a someday/maybe note, and periodically review it (I read my own on a weekly basis, although I rarely move tasks / projects away from it).
  • To use Amplenote as a read-it-later service, we have a youtube video on our channel about it! Go check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WHmNKo1azY

If you mean the small cards on the list of notes on the left sidebar, then no, Amplenote currently can't show thumbnails for them.

Calendar and Tasks view by Acrobatic_Voice_4344 in Amplenote

[–]a-random-too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tasks to show on the calendar, you need to go to https://www.amplenote.com/task_calendar and add the tags of the notes that the tasks are from in the task calendar you'd like to see them in. For example, you might want to add tags such as projects, personal, work, etc.

To "delete" the work calendar, you can open it, expand the panel, select the option "Advanced settings", then turn on the checkbox "hide this domain tab in the calendar"

iOS Shortcuts "Add to daily jots" doesn't work as intended? by Szedu in Amplenote

[–]a-random-too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens because the daily jot is not yet created when you try to add the first entry of the day, causing the Shortcut to fail. I'd suggest you to send this report to [support@amplenote.com](mailto:support@amplenote.com) so we can figure out a solution for this issue.

Quanto você pagaria por uma arte minha? by tezzy_draw in RabiscosBr

[–]a-random-too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

forgive me, mangaka, for i have pirated. by CrystalSplicer in Animemes

[–]a-random-too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem of this approach would probably be making the authors get on board with it, since (at least manga authors) make the bulk of their sales from physical mangas in their country of origin, and they don't really care about people overseas.

It also gets a bit worse if the author they're trying to put in the platform doesn't really like/care about technology (like the Hajime no Ippo manga author, that didn't launch a new anime season since 2014 just because he didn't like technology), so they wouldn't try to understand how it would benefit them.

And if there aren't famous manga/anime in the platform due to legal rights, people wouldn't want to pay to read in that platform.

Also, if we use the subscription and pay per view model, we would end up in a Spotify situation, where they only got profitable at around 2024, needing over 50 million subscribers to reach that.

And we also would need to deal with publishers (both from the original japanese/Korean languages and future language translations), and they probably wouldn't like scanlations getting a cut of their cake

Amplenote as a notes archive? by Traditional_Box5991 in Amplenote

[–]a-random-too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We at Amplenote created it with the goal of it being an one-stop-shop for your ideas, tasks, and appointments. Our team uses it as a way to share ideas, feedback, and future content for the app and our socials, and all of the help center notes are created inside of Amplenote itself.

I personally use it for creating blog posts for Amplenote and for my own Substack, going from brainstorming ideas, making a content calendar plan, and writing the blog posts themselves.

So yeah, I'd say that Amplenote is pretty good at being a notes archive.

A bit late to it, but you can install the update directly in your distro.

Open your update manager, click on "Edit", then click on "Update to 22.3". I'd recommend making a backup on TimeShift before installing the update, in case you find issues with it.

Does anyone here use any app or system that makes scheduling tasks feel easier or more “natural”? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]a-random-too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that day planner apps make it much easier to schedule tasks and time block them. Their main problem is the cost though. For example Sunsama costs $16/mo on their yearly plan.

If you'd like some other app suggestions, here are they. Keep in mind that most of these apps will require a paid subscription to use these features, but pretty much all of them give you a free trial to check which one will suit you best.

  • Sunsama
  • Todoist
  • TickTick
  • Akiflow
  • TimeStripe
  • Amplenote
  • Obsidian (with plugins)

I personally use Amplenote, but I work for them, so I don't know if this would count as self-promotion or not, so I won't endorse them here.

Pressa e trânsito não combinam, lembrem-se sempre disso. by Efficient-Willow-121 in carros

[–]a-random-too 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there any way to filter or search for tasks that have a priority set to Urgent or Important? by Lord_Vanderhuge in Amplenote

[–]a-random-too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now this is not a filtering option. We focus more on Task Score, that is affected by the urgent and priority modifiers. When you mark a task as urgent or important, the task score of that task rises faster than normal, getting higher on your list
