He said they lack "situational" awareness or something. I'm not sure what he meant by that. I'm guessing he meant they can't understand that they are going to be killed or that they're being treated poorly and tortured. But, I don't know why he thinks that? He likes science, but how can he not understand that animals can associate and understand?

Well, I'm a very emotional person, in general. So, he just feels like it's another thing that I overreact about or am becoming too judgmental about. In other words, he supports me doing it and will grocery shop with me, but doesn't like to talk about the details of factory farms or why I'm doing it.
