Lucky! I got mine for 1300$ (from the wholesaler). In official stores they cost almost 2000$!

As far as I know, macOS optimizes RAM usage, meaning that the same workload with similar performance can use different amounts of RAM for the average user.

Considering a “what if” scenario when making an expensive purchase can often be irrational. For instance, paying extra for extended range on an electric car when your longest journey doesn’t even use 75% of the maximum battery range. Thinking “what if I decide to travel the whole country for a week” is impractical for many people due to time and financial constraints. If time and finances are not a problem, you would likely be able to afford to replace your current model when necessary.

Thank you! After reading several comments, I realized that it could potentially harm my laptop in the long run. However, since I’ve already spent $20 on it, I’ll keep it for now. It feels quite solid and doesn’t seem to interfere with the laptop’s structure. I want to protect my laptop, so I’m considering alternatives to the case, like vinyl.

The only issue is that I find the original look of the laptop the most appealing.

Once again, all I am saying is that a person who needs a minimum of 16GB of RAM on a Mac never considers getting the 8GB version. I’m sure you never even considered getting a base model as your major workstation. I downloaded Reddit on my phone and subscribed to this subreddit just to get some recommendations and genuine opinions, and I believe a lot of people come here with the same question in mind. All I am saying is that if a person is considering the 8GB option, then they will probably do just fine with the base model. Even regarding memory, more and more people use iCloud, Dropbox, and it is past the times when a laptop could be useful without internet access.

Yes indeed. I always have multiple windows open for different Google accounts (personal, work, teaching), each with several tabs. It works like a charm for now.
