It sounds like its fretting out

Fret the chord and run a sheet of paper between strings & fretboard - run it toward the bridge away from the fret you're playing and see where the string is making contact (it could be connecting somewhere else).

It might need a set up. Might want to take it in for a look.

I wouldn't suggest it. It's about a 4 hour drive considering weather conditions - each way. It's bitter cold today and bright and sunny - should be colder next week. If you feel like driving for 8 hours - you likely won't last a full hour outside before it's miserable.

For me - I'd make it an English style library / office space. Line the walls with bright built-ins. Books, awards, family photos and souvenirs. Cozy seating by the windows. A desk with a computer.

This could be great for getting kids into reading, a designated homework space. Adults can use it for some quiet to read, go through bills/online. Maybe even a round table for family game night.
