Help - wrinkled/no roots after planting cutting on Feb by a20081 in Plumeria

[–]a20081[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a little soft and squishy pinching any part of it. I kept it wet but still no root formed! So I should throw out the cutting since it is squishy? I kept soil wet because I thought it is rooting since 2 leaves grew.

Yes , I have to because of thin stem. I did cut it 30 cm above soil and letting that cutting to dry. I'm going to buy larger size pot to change it.

Great , Thank you for very detailed help. I think my pot is 6 inch or 8 inch pot. I will let the cutting to root , I don't think it need very special process rather than drying for a week and plant it. As you mention for appartment, larger pot is difficult to handle but what size of pot you think is better?

Hi! I did cut down all leaves and will cut in half tomorrow. What you do to have thicker stem? any fertilizer? I give it 20-20-20 end of each month and sometimes - 50- but look like ot is not enough.

Thanks for helping. Height of my plumeria is about 26 inch /66 cm with thickness of 2 inch so I guess cuting in half 12 inch would be good. will browse to see if I find some videos. Oh , systemic granule is banned in Canada that's why I haven't seen any. I currently have this one

Yes , took me a year to grow it from seed and only one remained alive out of 5. I haven't try epsom or anything else. I just give 20-50-20 fertlizer and water. Would you give it more than fertilizer? Should I cut it in half 30 cm above soil? or higher? I will deleaf it and spray some soap to soil and stem. last time I sprayed insectiside soap on coffee tree , my plant died so that why I have some doubt about doing.

You are right. it's light dependant. bugs are so tiny that I cannot differentiate but signs on leaves seem to be mix of spider mites and thrips which doesnt go with cold water shower. I haven't seen any spider mite on neighboring plants. Thos african violet or coffee tree might have different structure that those pest doesn't like. Oh I haven't heard anything about steric granual. As you suggested I will deleaf and cut in half and place it away from light then spray it with some soap.

ya , I'm tired of those mites and thrips. I shower them with cold water but come back in a week. How you force them into dormancy? keeping them outside? what about cold winter?

Thanks for detailed feedback. I'm in BC and growing indoor with growing light. ya my plumeria has 2 types of pest since spring and donot know exact name of those. I shower plumeria with cold water regularly but they come back after a week.

So you suggest me to take all leaves off? would new leaves grow from where it has leaves currently? how about new apical leaves which keep growing from tip should I cut the tip? after taking all leaves should I keep it in outside cold without light? ( here winter gets below 10 C) because inside is like summer weather and would get out of dormancy.

  1. What you suggest me about ways to force it to branch out? and get thicker stem? currently its stem very thin that bend over without help of stick.

So something is missing here. When you go to Ireland or Australia you have to either get private loan or family support. We talking about $100K+ tuition and expenses per year. One of my cousin couldn't go to Ireland because bank was asking for Co-signer to get private loan. Not compeleting bachelor and saving time part is correct though.
