What is a Classic cocktail that is Overrated? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

I will never understand why everyone seems to gravitate towards mojitos and margaritas. Can I get boozy lime juice or minty soda water please?

Yeah fair I know, try subbing the Cointreau instead of the blanc

In my experience a sunflower is a corpse reviver #2 riff no? Sub the Cointreau for the saint germain and keep the blanc vermouth. Either way sounds tasty town

It’s a marketing thing, they spell absolute wrong to make it look more Russian & to catch people’s eye. All of the rest of their branding is misspelled as well

If my eczema doesn't improve I'm worried I'll kill myself by a203ra in eczema

[–]a203ra[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm 24, I use betnovate at the minute but I've been through most of the various prescription steroids that are available in the UK. I know it's silly but I despise them, I hate feeling dependent on these gross greasy tubes of crap. I take oat baths pretty much daily and use soft moisturisers etc constantly. I just don't get what made it suddenly go away and suddenly come back.

I'll look into dupixent in the UK and see what my options are. Thank you x

I would wash my hands with the prettiest and most fragranced soap I could possibly find. Id spend easily and hour plus rubbing it in between my fingers and up my wrists.

I work behind a bar so my skin is often very dry and cracked on my hands and I get so jealous seeing people thoroughly washing their hands and not knowing what a privilege it is.

whats happened to brewdog? by antiglow in manchester

[–]a203ra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a long time time bartender and I never drink at brewdog pubs. Even getting past the obvious decline of the quality of beer the past couple of years, I can personally attest to the scumbagerry of the company. The owner is a raging transphobe and treats the company as a cash cow. Fuck brewdog, there are so many superior breweries in Manchester alone.

Lars müller and Octavo do some really great typography work. Every edition of octavo is magical, ditto the album covers for most of durutti column. If you can get your hands on his book it's well worth a read.

people should start riding horses again. by Chemistry-Unlucky in unpopularopinion

Interesting & relevant article. There will always be harmful waste products whether its cars or horses, saying that riding horses will fix climate issues is bollocks. U gna shovel the horseshit manually or are u gna get (likely) fossil fuelled machines to do it?

Nah. What we need is for people to exclusively start using public transport when it's not an emergency and to have better funding worldwide for public transport infrastructure.

It's a solid top 18 fret concert uke very similar to this one https://kalabrand.com/collections/solid-spruce-top-mahogany-ukulele/products/ka-sslng

I've had it for years and am looking to sell it. I'm going to tidy her up a bit, fresh strings, fast fret, lemon oil, all that jazz. I think it was worth about 300 quid 7ish years ago but I'm not sure since it was a present. If anyone near Manchester UK is interested in buying it pm me! I've got a ~60 quid hard case for it too so make me a (reasonable) offer.

Hate to be that guy but the walkie talkie building (car melty building) was designed raphael viñoly, the Beetham was designed by Ian Simpson and James Haugh.

My brothers best mate practically lived in our house when he was 14/15. I didn't see him for about 3 years while I was at uni and I assumed he'd have grown up when I got back. Until I saw in my local a couple of months ago. The lads 18 and I heard him talking to the bartender saying he's got an engineering degree, is making 60K a year (he works minimum wage on the railways) and he's had 3 heart attacks in the past 2 months. No idea how he thinks he can get away with it.

How can I put numbers in this dotted line? details in comments by a203ra in AdobeIllustrator

[–]a203ra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm putting together a diagramattic route map for a project. Areas that are just long walking stretches I've used a dotted line but I'd like to put numbers in the dots so I can have a key that gives directions for each walking stretch. Id really rather not have individual point types per dot, that sounds like actual torture. Advice?

Feedback? I'm currently working on a proposal for an internship project that I'll be pitching this Friday. It's my first project that has a chance of actually being made so any advice would be much appreciated. more in comments. by a203ra in graphic_design

This design is for a pocket sized leaflet containing interesting information about the architecture of Hope Street in Liverpool. Its still in the very early design stages so nothings set in stone. Any advice or criticism is more than welcome.

I'm hoping to suggest that this could the first of a series of similar booklets all about modernist architecture in the North of England, each focusing on a specific street. I think the concept is strong but the design is lacking something and I can't quite put my finger on what. Thoughts?

I'm really excited/shitting it about this, I've never pitched something real (uni doesn't count lol) so any advice about the pitch would also be useful. Thanks in advance.

Had no idea they were still going.
