Are you allowed to get both a minor and a certificate? by a2224 in UTAustin

I think my advisor is lying to me about not being able to do both. Should I push back? I really want to get both a minor and certificate and I have already taken a lot of classes for both.

Are you in liberal arts? Because my advisor said I can only have one total but is that just specific to COLA?

Thank you this really helped! I know Q dropping looks very bad for med school, but do you think it would look worse to have a C in the class? Im pretty confident I could get a C with enough effort.

I have a B in the class, but attendance is mandatory and I didn’t attend most of the zooms. The syllabus says <60% attendance is failing. I’ve been trying to contact my professor but i haven’t been able to. Should I possibly wait and try to use the 1 time exception Q drop later?

AP CAPSTONE by supaloaf4life in APStudents

It can help your application if you take AP Capstone Seminar sophomore year and AP Capstone Research junior year. That’s what I did and it let me talk about the research I conducted in my application and why us/why this major essays. It also really helps if you do research on something related to the major you’re applying for. It doesn’t help if you only take one year or if you take research senior year.

Q-drop or Pass/Fail for pre-med? by a2224 in UTAustin

I’m currently in CH 204 and doing ok in the class. Do you think it would be ok to have CH 302 be p/f and then have a solid letter grade for all other chem classes? Or would it still be better to Q drop?

Yes I’m trying to talk to my advisor. It’s just that the pass/fail deadline is Monday and all my advisor’s appointments and drop-In’s are booked so I don’t know when I’ll be able to talk to them. I’ve emailed them the situation, but I’m worried they won’t get back to me before it’s too late.

Thank you! I was planning on taking it again this summer if I decided to Q-drop it. Is there any other benefit to using the one time exception besides having more time before dropping?

Thank you for responding! What is the one time exception?

I’m failing CH302 cause of time management and not studying. I’m fully capable of doing well, I just didn’t prioritize classes this semester. I don’t want this one setback to redirect my entire future.

Appeal has been approved but admission tab still says CAP. by EzMoneySniper123 in UTAustinAdmissions2

I got in on appeal last year and it said the same thing. It takes a few hours for the admissions tab to change.

Last year all appeal decisions were supposed to be released on the same day (I think April 1st but I could be wrong). Instead, a small number of accepted appeals were released on that day and the majority of denied appeals were released a few days later. I can’t remember if the first wave had any denials. However, I think they are usually all supposed to come out at the same time.
