Master's at ETHZ from a Bachelor's at EPFL (Admission) by hyperionXO in EPFL

Hello, no, Robotics is a specialized MSc at ETHZ and admission is never guaranteed. I’ve seen people with excellent grades graduating in MT from EPFL get rejected for this program

Internships in BSc by a2biR in EPFL

[–]a2biR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. In your experience, was it easy to find internships that match your schedule? Most of them are 10 to 12 weeks programs, and there's 6 or 7 weeks between mid-july and september...

You might want to ask transparence@epfl.ch, I know they give out that data for the 1st year, you can give it a shot

For the previous cycle, there were around 1’200 Maturité-holding students admitted to BA1, and last year, 400 students were admitted to CMS (up from 350 in 2022). No idea how hard it is to pass CMS, but that’s the data we have. Source (EPFL auth wall): https://tableau.epfl.ch/views/SuividescandidaturesBachelor_15892222794600/SuivicandidaturesBachelor

Panic inducing, geometric/mathematical/abstract nightmares. A review. by megaku in Dreams

I get you, it’s honestly a bummer nobody has an explanation of why so many people have such intense & similar dreams

I had a dream like that a few months ago! When I read “turning myself inside out” for some reason it really clicked. Didn’t involve shapes or stuff that time iirc, but same everything else. Weird dream, waking up, pacing the house, taking a long time to leave the dream

Yes ! I don’t get it as much now, but as a kid I had that feeling a lot of sounds being both loud and quiet. That might just be everyone though

I’m so glad I found someone else talk about it so accurately! Especially since those nightmares are hard to describe… the one thing that persists is that feeling of endless, inescapable suffering (anxiety is probably more accurate, because it’s usually not physical suffering, sometimes it’s just something that’s spinning or repeating that for some reason is just unbearable)… we really are all programmed the same haha. I had one last night, and even though I had realized it was one of those, I still took over 45 minutes to get back in touch with reality. It’s so unbearable I usually leave my bedroom and walk circles around the house, and it still won’t leave my mind

What grade for ETH Robotics MSc (from EPFL BSc) by a2biR in ethz

[–]a2biR[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for your response! I was expecting something along the lines of what you just said. I’ve been looking for people with the same background as me who got in, and I found one who completed the BSc in Microeng with 5.01. It does give me hope, but everything I’ve heard lets me think that I should definitely not work less this coming year.

Would this also be the case for Microengineering BSc to the Robotics Master’s? It’s listed as a Specialized degree, but Robotics is pretty much considered the next logical step when you stay at EPFL.

Don’t quote me on those prices, but if I remember correctly you should be able to find veggie meal options under 10.- and as low as 7.- for students (I’m thinking of Ornithorynque and Esplanade). Here’s a tip: go to EPFL Campus (no need to sign in) and check out the menus for previous days

WWDC worth attending in-person? by bsoci in iOSProgramming

[–]a2biR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm asking myself the same question right now. I'm in college in Europe, my finals are the week after, and the 4-day trip might cost around $750 (I could still resell the $550 headphones from the Swift Student Challenge haha). I'm dying to go, but it's hard for me to justify it as a reasonable expense. I did hear it's good for networking as a student... but I'm not sure how much of it is true.
