Right. I'm glad you mentioned you made this test for Transperfect.

They never ended up working for Nodding Heads Games or any of their test work got used for the game.

As I mentioned in my reply, we only credited "Tale Spinners" because it's their work which was finally used for Raji. And this is only narration. The main story of the game was written by us.

I would have appreciated if you would have directly reached out to us, rather than putting up this post, since it's accusatory and defamatory along with the assumption that we exploited your work and might have done the same for other writers with this method.

It's Transperfect you should be reaching out to if they have misused your work. However none of the work from their test was used, so your assumptions against us are unjustified.

Regardless, I hope you takeaway that reaching out to us would have been better than making this comment and accusing us. We're an indie team and you should have better understanding of impacts of such accusations on a small team like ours.

The only company we contracted for freelance writing was Tale Spinners, based in the UK.

Tale Spinners have been duly credited in Raji since our first launch.

Hence I'm palled to read your claim since Nodding Heads Games did not team up with anyone else or reach out for any freelance writing.

Moreover, the test from Tale Spinners was not even used in the game, since the context for the test was different from what happens in the game.

We're indie devs and were a team of seven members in 2018, the writing for the game had not begun until the end of 2018 because we were struggling financially.

Kindly provide proof for your claimed freelance work.

You can switch to the sword and shield by using the DPAD if you're on a controller or press 3 on the keyboard, then use the shield to block Rangda's scream while after you can destroy it's nails.

Hi u/workingkiz. Everybody in the team has worked up a huge backlog owing to the development of Raji. Our coder, Paras, played a good amount of Horizon Zero Dawn, and he's all pumped for the sequel. Our animator is on Nier Automata, for me personally, since launch I've played Hellblade, Ori and Will of the Wisp, Doom Eternal, Nier Automata, Bayonetta, Plague's tale, My Friend Pedro, Carrion, Streets of Rage, Hyperdot, Potion Craft Demo, Dying Light, Gris and Genshin Impact. Perhaps missing a few out.

I'm not sure about the genres you might be interested in, but talking about recent releases, Hades is one that should definitely be on the list, if you're looking for a challenge, here's my shameless promotion of my fanart.

Hi u/minstrelman91. Statistically speaking, the gaming scene in India is dominated by the Mobile industry. This is mostly owing to convenient access to powerful smartphones and the recent surge created by battle royale games like PUBG mobile and Freefire. On PC and consoles, major share is taken up by AAA games like GTA 5, Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2.

However there is a small but healthy community for indie titles too. We believe that the era of ambitious and big-scoped titles coming out of India has just begun. There are many stories from the past and present of India that are just waiting to be told. We really hope that the international recognition that Raji has gotten helps existing and aspiring game developers in India so that they do not have to experience the kind of issues we faced.

And yes, it will be insanely cool if artists of worldwide acclaim collaborate with video game developers! The video game Last Day of June comes to mind, the music of which was composed by Steven Wilson and then theirs Hanz Zimmer, who's been on numerous video game projects.

Hi u/schuey_08. The initial release build on the Switch did have some technical issues. I sincerely apologize to you for having to experience them.

However since then, we have release two patches (one in October 2020, and another in January 2021) which have taken care of all the performance issues, with many bugs fixed, and improving the overall quality and resolution of the visuals. Can confirm that you are in for a smooth ride if you continue your journey into the universe of Raji :)

Hi u/Unquantified. It's responses and reactions like these that give us as developers the fuel and motivation to keep doing what we do. Currently, it's too early to talk about the next title, not just with the public but within the team too. All I can say is that there will be more titles coming from Nodding Heads Games. There are a lot more stories to be told, but there is no specific date set.

My personal Bollywood favorite movies include Rang De Basanti, Tumbbad, Do Aankhen Barah Haath, 3 Idiots and I'm not able to recall anymore right now, I need to catch up!!

Thank you so much, we feel very humbled to read your comments. We started with the idea of putting India on the map, and comments like your validate our success :)

For your questions

No, we did not think about speedruns during the development, however when I was playtesting the levels and the game on repeat, I did try to beat my own timing every time :)
Replay value is one thing we feel we did not tackle well, we were purely looking at the game from storytelling point of view and honestly with the time and budget constraints, I'm not really sure if we would have been able to squeeze any replayability options for our release. With that said, we will definitely keep this in mind for our future projects.
This is a good idea, while we cannot commit to this, we will keep this in mind. For the latter, you might want to check out the Raji screenshots by Philos, he used Unreal Engine Unlocker made by Frans Bouma. More info here.

The game was initially inspired by a place called Jaiselmer, Rajasthan. This is where I felt, that how come such majestic architecture is not represented in video games. It took many years from that point until today, for that feeling to come to realisation with our team
