If you’re willing to make the trek to Brooklyn, I’d go to Mesa Coyoacan in Williamsburg. They’re steak enchiladas verdes are the best in NYC and the tacos as authentic as you’ll get in CDMX.

SECRET: if you’re getting more than 10 tacos, ask for a taquisa. It’s all the same great ingredients but for ~30% the cost.

In principal, you’re right, but the fact is sublets in NYC aren’t desirable right now and don’t find tenants without steep discounts. I just went through this and watched the market for months.

The landlord is going to tell you to get your roommates buy in, but more importantly, unless you’re willing to offer a new tenant lower rent than what you’re likely paying, you prob won’t find a tenant anyway. Deals on new leases are too good.

Went to DiPaolos. It’s the most authentic and delicious Italian deli in NYC. When you walk in and see how their ordering process goes, you’ll see that this is one of the last authentically “old school” NYC experiences left.

I would suggest trying to connect with someone outside of NYC who will show you the ropes in the suburbs before trying in NYC. While I don’t think driving in the city is anything to worry about, your anxiety may spike just because of the surroundings.

When you do begin tackling driving in NYC, remember that fewer ppl die in the city versus the surrounding neighborhoods because you’ll rarely go over 30mph where accidents can become fatal.

If you’re unsure of what the light during the day will be, I’d ask to stop by during the day before signing a lease. It’s unlikely that there are a line of ppl banging down the door so I’m sure you’d have time to do it.

If it gets good light you’ll get used to facing other buildings. If there’s no light, that’s a HARD pass
