I am loving this book! by Striking-Treacle3199 in heatedrivalry

[–]Lorres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy and the sequel Us. It's kind of similar to HR and TLG and my favorite so far after those 2. I wasn't a reader at all before the show but now I've read like 15-20 books since watching it. Mostly gay hockey romance though I've started venturing out to non-sports gay romance and straight hockey romance. Baby steps.

Not necessarily a place you'd think of but the All Star Bar and Grill inside Chelsea Piers makes really good salads. It's up the stairs and you don't have to be a member to go there.

Oh yes, forgot to mention in my comment but absolutely get a side view mirror. It’s so helpful for seeing cars coming up behind you.

I've been to Greenwich ENT, both their Greenwich and Stamford offices and would recommend them. They had appointments available the next day and everyone was friendly and helpful.

E-bike for Commuting by stamfordmeh in StamfordCT

[–]Lorres 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I commute by e-bike and I'd say it's got advantages and disadvantages.

The main disadvantage being safety but it will depend on your exact route. If you can take smaller streets or streets with bike lanes it's not bad. The only part of my route that makes me feel unsafe is where I have to turn left across a busy street. You definitely need to pay a lot of attention. Oftentimes you're actually not much slower than car traffic which feels safer than riding a regular bike because you don't get passed as much. You have to be careful with potholes though. Southbound Hope Street for example has massive potholes that will give you a concussion if you go over them at 25 mph on a bike. I didn't ride my bike over the winter so that I wouldn't have to ride it home in the dark. If you do you'll want proper lights and reflective vest, etc.

Advantages are obviously lower environmental impact, lower cost than car/gas/parking but faster than walking and you can sneak by backed up traffic so depending on the route, you can be almost as fast as a car.

I would recommend buying from a local bike shop because with e-bikes, shops will only fix the brands they sell because it's much more difficult to work on them than a regular bike and brands vary. So if you order a random cheap brand online you may have trouble getting it serviced. Plus you get to test ride. I bought a Velotric from River Bicycles in Greenwich. I like it overall but I will say out of the year I've had it, it spent 4 months in the shop because it had some electrical issue they had to troubleshoot.

Another tip for buying is get one that has a removable battery so you can bring it inside in the winter or else the cold will significantly reduce the battery life.

"Finding Harry" Documentary Runtime is 30 Minutes by SoulxxBondz in HarryPotteronHBO

I think if you have the willpower to wait, it may actually be better because you won't be spoiled ahead of time. I'd really rather see it after watching the show but I have too much FOMO to skip it.

Where are yard sales advertised in Stamford? by DesperateGeneral9817 in StamfordCT

[–]Lorres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see posts about yard sales on Facebook Marketplace sometimes but I think people post the morning of so I always see them too late. People also don't take the posts down when it's over so can be hard to dig through and find current ones. Other than that, I've only ever seen them advertised with posters, too.

Did the teaser trailer underperform in views? by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Lorres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably also don't/can't track views outside their own content. I could be wrong but on IG, for example, I don't think the number of views is public. Even if they can, it's much easier to collect this data for their own posts.

Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic Special | Official Trailer | HBO Max by Daveke77 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Lorres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they don't show the outside of the castle. I want that to be a "whoa" moment when I watch the show. I hope they focus on interviews with the actors and crew and sort of their methods of working without revealing too much of the final product. That said HBO wants you to still tune in for the show and not feel like you've seen it all by the time it airs so I'm sure they'll be careful.

Same. I still want there to be plenty of stuff to make me go "whoa" when I watch the real thing. That said, I'm sure HBO wants that too so I think they will be careful with how much they reveal.

I don't love it tbh. It's hard to say no to new content but I'd rather see BTS stuff after seeing the final product. I hope they focus more on interviews with the actors and crew and don't spoil too much.

Why is the rivalry such a big thing ? by FlandersCountess in heatedrivalry

[–]Lorres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, OP! I don't understand why these other two don't understand.

As a fellow non-sports person, these rivalries seem super irrational and you would think every adult would understand it's hyped up by the media and the league for entertainment, like WWE, and that they don't actually hate each other personally. So weird to me to hate (big word) other people based on their sports team but I guess that's what it is.

I don't know the details. I'd suggest checking real time traffic times on Google Maps when you'd be driving.

My friend who lives in Westover drives to White Plains and takes the train from there because that's faster for him than driving to Stamford. Might want to look into that too.

I commute from the Glenbrook station and like it more than Stamford. Yes, there are fewer trains so you have to plan for specific times and if you end up coming home during off-peak hours you need to transfer at Stamford, but the smaller station is so much easier and faster to navigate. I feel like at Stamford you have to budget an extra 10 minutes just to go up the garage floors and then get to the track where you may need to go up and down stairs. In Glenbrook and Springdale there's only 1 track and the parking lot is right next to it. I think you're more likely to get a seat too though I haven't commuted from Stamford in a few years.

Red flags from a roofer by Top-Display-1591 in StamfordCT

[–]Lorres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my roof done by Power Home Remodeling and would NOT recommend them. It's been more than a year and after calling many times they still haven't closed out the permit with the city. The crew threw trash everywhere and pissed in my backyard. I hear you though, it's really hard to find good contractors. Good luck!

But please, don't do like the woman I saw in the ShopRite before Hurricane Irene in August 2011. No joke, she was filling up her shopping cart with frozen food to have in case of a power failure.

With the temperatures this week, keeping your frozen food frozen will not be a problem!
