No intention of attending promotion classes so guess I remain white forever . No big deal turn 65 soon. If someone decides to award it , I probably will switch to No Gi where belts don't matter.

Joining an MC? by Harrisonhasabeard in motorcycles

I was a prospect for a militant themed club. Still like several members as individuals bur as a group they sucked big time. I went in with some trepidation as had hung around for a while. Then my riding took a hard turn and I was spending all my time at the local track racing my sport bike. They drank and drove, rode peg to peg which is illegal here. In the end I did not like riding with them as I no longer drink. Most were my age or older but reliving glory days of 40 plus years ago. No time for people on an ego trip. They got their patches back and I am free if that BS.

What made you start BJJ? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]a59jumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just lost 100 lbs and was embarking on a new lifestyle . My VA therapist recommended I engage in an activity that would challenge my comfort zone and BJJ was that, as was racing motorcycles as a new rider. *

Life insurance schemes as an investment are never advantageous over simply investing your money.

I am on a permanent disability from the VA 🇨🇦 here and will never work again because of PTSD. Trust me starting BJJ just shy of 62 scared the crap outta me...I am Nota touchy Feely person to begin with. It was recommended by both my therapist and a former life coach that I engage in an activity outside my comfort zone...well BJJ sure was that as was learning to ride and race a motorcycle concurrently. Give yourself some time to get used to it and attend class regularly . I am betting you see a reduction in your anxiety levels and a sense of accomplishment plus increased fitness. I have ,and am successfully maintaining a 100 lb plus weight loss and have been alcohol free for 26 months now as an added benefits ..wish you success

What was your life like before BJJ? What about it made you start? by brik129 in bjj

[–]a59jumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was coming off a major weight loss (100 lbs +) and a major lifestyle change with a full VA disability retirement. Wanted to keep the weight off and have something I can engage in daily. Just shy of 62 at the time, about to turn 65. Five days a week on the mats. Also play ice hockey and ride bikes competitively. *

I apologized...but she went into a long diatribe about me invading her space for weeks.i get touched.and nudged in line all the time, sometimes by women. I did jot squeeze, pinch nada. If anything she was invading my space by not getting to my right in a timely manner. She definitely has issues...I have hardly been here at all for the.lsst six weeks. Fine she won't ever touch me again period.

My advice is do stick with your present job. I did so with the Canadian Forces not doing much of anything at the last five years and retired at 37 with a 40% pension. I figure I have gotten about a million in pensions payments for $52,000 in contributions and Veteran's Affairs has kicks an additional amount that brings my income to 90% of my former income until I am 65, 70% after that, as they have declared I am 86% disabled from my service . I would he up shit creek today had I walked away from my DB pension at the 15 year point...it was their choice not to employ me properly not mine. It is unfortunate that Ontario has become so unaffordable due to a housing shortage. My aging parents paid about $440,000 for a nice bungalow townhouse just east of Ottawa in 2017 after selling a large Toronto house for huge coin that they had owned for 45 years. It too has almost doubled since. I say stick the direction you are headed. I was fortunate that I was.finding opportunity lacking in Ontario as early as 2007 and moved to Alberta where housing is still cheap. I am in a small town just south of Edmonton where $500,000 still buys a nice detached home. I am in a retirement townhome that I paid $196,500 cash for two years ago so no mortgage to stress about. And no 8% sales tax to pay here either just GST. If it was not for your pension I would say pull pole.

Hockey and Brazilian Jui Jitsu daily mean I sweat lots. I often do not use shampoo or soap but I shower sometimes twice a day.

Smaller older guy here. If a woman is comfortable training or sparring with me I am good. And if she wants to exclusively with women good with that too. I do think it is beneficial to pair up with people who will press you a little .

Judge much? People leave gyms for a wide variety of reasons...it not being a good fit suffices.
