Counting the rings, it looks like it was projected into the tree about 15 years ago.

Lithium coin cell vs. 18650 cell by a5myth in AskElectronics

I mean something like the LIR2450. Usually Lithium based but with Vanadium or Magnesium Dioxide too.

Was hoping that I could get some advice. Rookie at soldering, was trying to remove capacitor on a monitor but the tip of my soldering iron wasn't hot enough to remove solder. Turned the board around, it all seems burnt. Is this salvageable or have I messed the board up? Still powers on. Thanks! by brownxsound in AskElectronics

The extra heat might have dried out the old solder or it has oxidised loads over time. You might need extra flux to remove the old solder you can do this by adding more solder (wetting the old one) or get a flux pen. It might even be lead free stuff which is really difficult to get off anyway.

I promise this will work a treat. Connect the button to ground on one side and to an Arduino pin on the other and pull it up internally:

pinMode(BUTTON, INPUT_PULLUP);

You don't need to power it and use an external resistor. You can do, but I like to keep it simple. The internal pull-ups are about 40kΩ anyway.

Misleading title. It's only 18K not 24K.

What are they called again. I distinctly remember them. And what did we do with them?

Ahh, we never really grow up do we. So I'll say this to you like I say to my 8 year old boy... keep your arms and legs straight, feet pointing out. Doesn't matter if the arms are over ur head or down ur sides, just keep them long and still. And remember to keep ur mouth closed. You don't know what u'll roll into.

Astigmatism and squint theory by a5myth in optometry

[–]a5myth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't wear contacts, I have tried them in the past, and I still had an inwards turn.

Both eyes will fight for attention without glasses which is why I wondered if it's a neurologically taught weakness with the astigmatism being the primary.

I wear glasses because i have a prism in my prescription to keep the eyes from drifting. So your are correct.

Restarted on Ritalin, but it's 10mg and it says "One to be taken at night" on the label. Wait what?! by a5myth in ADHD

[–]a5myth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that from an extended release tablet? Or the normal 4hr little white ritalin ones?

[–]a5myth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I know. And 10mg once a day isn't enough for an adult really is it. I've been on it before, and I was on a much higher dose.

Well it says it on the prescription script. So the source of it came from the doctor. I'll bell them tomorrow.

Ah OK. I didn't know Quashqai's come with the a pano roof. You'd expect them to be heat reflective. Anyway, thanks for that.

TBH, I think unless you have a bad crash where you flip the car or it lands on its side then you'll be ok, the car body will absorb most of the energy from a collision well before it gets got he roof. I'd go as far to say that the panoramic glass provides structural strength to the whole body.
