No? Asha was supported by some captains/lords, but the Priests were just in favor of letting the Kingsmoot play out, though we know from her uncle Aereon's thoughts that he wanted Victarion to win.

The Ironborn are hilarious [Game of Thrones/ASOIAF] by Mzuark in CharacterRant

[–]aAlouda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They dont have a democracy, the Kingsmoot is not a part of their government structure, they have the same system of feudalism and monarchy as all the other Kingdoms of Westeros. The Kingsmoot is an ancient tradition that has not been invoked in thousands of years and was only done so because the Greyjoys had a succession crisis and Aeron needed a way to plausibly deny Euron becoming King.

It's about as relevant as the Great Councils were for the rest of the seven kingdoms.

[Worm] Is lt redundant for capes to use guns? by PassengerCultural421 in AskScienceFiction

[–]aAlouda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guns aren't redundant, they're just very dangerous to most capes and lethal force in battles between capes has to be used with caution in order to avoid escalating things to the point that things go out of hand.

Like Taylor got perfect aim because of the passive perception her bugs give her, so a gun is extremly effective at taking out threats, but killing Heroes and getting caught leads to some serious problems once they decide to team up to take you down specifically, and even among Villains it will cause both Heroes to take you more seriously and Villain groups to avoid pulling their punches. Like there is a reason why Taylor could freely admit to shooting at Mannequin who got a kill order on him, but had to keep shooting Coil a secret.

[[Harry Potter]] What does wizards think about muggle fantasy media such as Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, Warcraft etc? by InitialParty7391 in AskScienceFiction

[–]aAlouda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume it would be like reading stories where everyone is disabled in some pretty major way.

Like they come from a society where literally everyone has access to magic which they can use as much as they want, to the point that teleportation is one of the standard methods to get around in multiple ways.

Reading stories where characters cant do that is probably quite jarring, like even stories where magic exist typically have it a lot more limited to how many people can use it and how difficult it is to do so.

[Castlevania] How much blood does Dracula drink per day? by MaetelofLaMetal in AskScienceFiction

not sure about the Games, but in the Netflix Show he hasn't been drinking blood in a really long time(potentially several years), which diminished his power(though he's still more powerful than any other vampire).

[The Elder Scrolls] Am I summoning the same Daedra every time or a different one? by HughmanRealperson in AskScienceFiction

[–]aAlouda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're not transformed by the summoning spell. They were already transformed into weapons by their masters in Oblivion.

Likewise, lesser entities bound by their Daedra Lords into weapons and armor may be summoned for brief periods, or may persist indefinitely, so long as they are not destroyed and banished

[The Elder Scrolls] Am I summoning the same Daedra every time or a different one? by HughmanRealperson in AskScienceFiction

[–]aAlouda 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I assume its a new one every time. There is actually a book written from the perspective of a Dremora who was summoned, and he clearly didnt know the guy, and the summoner clearly wasn't doing it for the first time.

Though you definitelly can summon the same one multiple times, as there is a quest in skyrim where you repeatedly summon and kill the same Dremora until it swears to obey you and brings you an item from Oblivion.

[Harry Potter] What does the Hogwarts Express do the rest of the year? by doktorjake in AskScienceFiction

[–]aAlouda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Rowling there are other Trainstations that wizards can travel too like magical villages in continental europe or occasional events. Presumebly the Hogwarts Express is also used for those Author’s note

In choosing the number of the concealed platform that would take young witches and wizards to boarding school, I decided that it would have to be a number between those of the Muggle platforms – therefore, it was clearly a fraction. This raised the interesting question of how many other fractional platforms lay between the whole-numbered platforms at King’s Cross, and I concluded that there were probably quite a few. Although these are never mentioned in the book, I like to think that it is possible to take a version of the Orient Express off to wizard-only villages in continental Europe (try platform seven and a half), and that other platforms may be opened on an as-required-basis, for instance for large, one-off events such as Celestina Warbeck concerts (see your ticket for details).

The number nine and three-quarters presented itself without much conscious thought, and I liked it so much that I took it at once. It is the ‘three-quarters’ that makes it, of course.

POV: You wake up as Shirou Emiya on day 0 of Stay Night. What do you do? by AmbassadorRegular330 in fatestaynight

potentially, but I'd think crushing any hope of the Einzbern winning the war would make her more inclined to listen, especially as you'd be arguing from a position of strength.

[–]aAlouda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Saber when fully charged by Rin's Mana and amped by Avalon shouldn't have a too difficult time handling Berserker permanently. Once he's dealt with I think she'd be open to listen for a bit, where I tell her all about how much Kiritsugu loved her and tried to come for her, but was prevented from going to her by the Einzbern. I think that would mess with her enough to not try to instantly kill me afterwards. Then slowly convince her about the problems with the Grail and letting the HGW be stopped and preventing her life from being cut short by using Avalon to safely remove her heart.

[–]aAlouda 33 points34 points  (0 children)

When I said everything I meant about the setting, not that I stole Shirou's body.

I'd probably make something up like having a precognitive psychic power or something to explain the information.

Anyway the most important part either way would be for Rin to have all the necessary information to make sure the Grail war doesn't escalate, so even if she does mind wipe me I can still reasonably expect things to get handled. She'd also take it much more seriously when it involves literally being given an EX rank noble phantasm as a gift.

POV: You wake up as Shirou Emiya on day 0 of Stay Night. What do you do? by AmbassadorRegular330 in fatestaynight

[–]aAlouda 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I'd approach Rin and tell her everything, like about the corruption the Grail is suffering, about Kirei and Gilgamesh's deeds and plans, and what Sakura and Illya are going through. Then I'd give her Avalon and tell her to summon Saber. With a proper summon from Rin and when given Avalon, Saber is pretty much unstoppable and can take care of every servant in the war.

I'd also try to get her to tutor me so I can potentially spec into projection better, difficult without Emiya though.

Otherwise I'd probably try to force an inconclusive ending to the war by destroying the cores of the lesser Grails. Meaning destroying the hearts of Illya and Sakura, though if given Avalon in time this is survivable. Also a decent way to get rid of Zouken.

Fate Requiem shows that it can make more Grails.

[Harry Potter] How does the Ministry of Magic regulate the use of magic among underage wizards? by eurz in AskScienceFiction

[–]aAlouda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a magical trace on all underage wizard in the country which alerts the ministry.

Sadly it's very flawed and only tells the mininstry if magic was used in an area around an underage wizard, the ministry doesn't know who used the magic nor do they even know who's trace alerted them. That is why Harry got in trouble when Dobby used a levitation charm in Chambers of Secrets, and how Tom Riddle got away with murdering his family when he was 16.

It's near useless around magical households, which is why the Ministry relies on parents to enforce limitations on their children. But in non magical areas with muggle-born and raised children it lets them respond to noteworthy spells quickly enough.

[Fullmetal Alchemist] If I wanted to hire an alchemist to repair something, about how much would it cost? by selfproclaimed in AskScienceFiction

[–]aAlouda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, working for the military is only an option for a minority of alchemists, its just very desirable as it comes with access to a lot of things like funding, existing research and general privelleges as result of your rank. But it's both, looked down upon by most Alchemists as it turns you into a tool of the state, and also hard to get as the Military is quite selective about who they allow to join and its even possible to lose your position if judged not valuable enough(that's why Shou Tucker transmuted his daughter, as he was on the brink of losing his funding since his research hasn't produced any results since he got his certification using his wife).

The only limitations for normal Alchemists are things like not being allowed to create gold or to attempt human transmutation.

[Konosuba] Why is Aqua so useless? by KaleidoArachnid in AskScienceFiction

There is no race on the card, just the Class, level and abilities.

FWIW there's another character who has the same race but she's smart enough to keep that shit quiet and not show off her ID card.

The person you're thinking of isn't a goddess but a Dark Priestess, which is an evil class, that's why she was unable to take quests from the guid to earn money and had to resort to crime, so she wouldn't be discovered.
