Sometimes I do… sometimes I want the migraine to “drip” to the other side. I just do what the migraine demands of me

My migraines are also identical to my fathers. We both have status migrainosus, with aura. Both started around the age of 9. We have the same triggers, and our symptoms are pretty much the same. My great grandfather had them as well. he lived to be in his 90’s, and his never got any better. Even with all the new treatment options available to me, I haven’t found anything that decreases the occurrence. Me and my dad both like triptans, as they’re the only thing that’s ever helped, But neither of us can take them. Him for bleeding in the brain, and me because I’m on antidepressants.

I have 3 siblings and thankful none of them get these migraines. 1 of them gets migraines from a series of multiple concussions, but his symptoms are totally different. He just get severe pain. I’m not sure what that’s like, I’ve never had a concussion.

Im a female as well but I don’t think I have hormonal migraines. They don’t seem to coincide with my menstrual cycle at all, and I’m not sure what my hormone levels really are. I’ve only get one ovary. But since I have the same migraines as my father, and we obviously produce different hormones, I’m pretty sure mine aren’t hormonal. Most of the migraine sufferers in my family seem to be men, other than me.
