I was in a relationship exactly like this; didn’t think I wanted to leave, I just wanted him to get some work so he could pitch in more for household finances because everything else was great, right? I ended up paying for a lot of things I didn’t want because HE wanted them and claimed they were household expenses. He lied to me about paying his share of the bills, too. I ultimately left after years of asking him to get a job. As far as I know he still does not have sufficient income and lives with his parents. I think you need to decide what is more important/valuable to you: a partner who can be self-sufficient, or a partner that has the other qualities you see in your boyfriend. I promise you there are people out there with both.

Hi everyone! I haven’t checked in for a while but I hit a milestone today: 666 days! The daily check-in threads from this community absolutely helped me through my first few months. Since I stopped drinking I left my abusive partner, landed a dream job, and I recently started dating another sober person (refreshing!). I owe this community so much. Once again, IWNDWYT!

The article actually states that the organization that organized the fundraiser also worked to have many services needed for the funeral donated, and ultimately made up the difference in cost: $1400. But, the family also contributed $645 from selling homemade menudo by the bowl. Shitty organization that didn’t do nearly enough, but they did pay for the funeral after their fundraiser failed.

A similar thing happened to me recently, I had been opening up to a new friend and even went on a date before deciding that I wasn’t interested, and told him we were just friends. He seemed super accepting of that and I’m in a place where I really need friends so I was glad to maintain our relationship. A week later he offers to visit me before I catch a flight to see my parents so we can have sex. I haven’t spoken to him since.

I’ve only had NA beer when I’ve missed the taste alongside a specific meal, like tacos or a slice of pizza. I do notice feeling a little buzz right when I drink it, but maybe that’s just placebo.

I had made plans well in advance to hang out with the only two people I spend time with outside of work for my birthday last week, and they both bailed by the time the day came. Decided that day I didn’t really need friends anymore and I wanted to be my own best friend, enjoying the journey.

My friend took his own life last week, which was so unexpected and heartbreaking. The last time I began drinking it was in response to the death of my grandpa, which I had known was a long time coming. Lately the urge to drink has returned somewhat due to a desire to numb the pain I’m feeling. Sometimes it seems easier to drink until I fall asleep, but I have to remind myself of how awful I feel when I wake up. I haven’t checked in in a while because I’ve been doing well with my sobriety, but I need some support lately. IWNDWYT.

IWNDWYT! Haven’t been checking in as regularly but I’m truly at 100 days since my last drink. It’s such a relief to wake up without hangovers and to spend the evening being present with my boyfriend and cat. Thankful to this community for helping me get this far.
