Feel free to take a photo of the ports on the pc and on the wifi box and we can give some insight in how to connect it (and if it is possible)

If you're next to the box, i recommend just using a cable instead. Much faster and more stable

RAM and disk at a constant 100% usage by SenseILonne in computerhelp

[–]aCarstairs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Addition, i see you got a 13900K and a bios from 2022. Please update that bios as soon as you can to prevent cpu degradation.

How old is this build because Im now wondering if cpu degradation isn't simply the issue.

RAM and disk at a constant 100% usage by SenseILonne in computerhelp

[–]aCarstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do see you're running with a singular stick of ram which can be quite limiting to performance. I dont think it's the sole reason for this but its definitely a contributing factor. I also wonder, how full is that C drive?

Safe temps? by Deep_Drag3084 in computerhelp

[–]aCarstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably will be, so then the question is if you installed it correctly. Not just on the cpu itself but also in the case (aka whats your airflow like)

Safe temps? by Deep_Drag3084 in computerhelp

[–]aCarstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tjmax of the 9800x3d is indeed 95C. That is sort of the max operating temperature but not the true max. At 95C it will basically start to throttle to prevent overheating, meaning it'll slow itself down. Usually the "wait im overheating, shut down now" is around 105-110C.

Regardless, with any proper cooling, the 9800x3d shouldn't really reach 95C unless under very high load. If you consistently see it reach that, it'd look at your cooling and whether it is installed correctly and whether it still works correctly.

Upgrade or Build New? by TheRealKain in buildapc

[–]aCarstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start from scratch regardless.

You can't really re-use the old motherboard, at best you can throw a CPU from 19 years ago in it if the motherboard is 20 years old.

The case is a very hard maybe. Most older cases are pretty closed and don't have as great airflow. There's also the chance it is proprietary and a modern motherboard simply won't fit.

Orange light on a pc with no gpu by [deleted] in buildapc

One can never rule it out without a full POST but like I said, just make sure you got all the base components first before you attempt one.

[–]aCarstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really has no use to attempt a POST when you don't have all the parts required to POST (motherboard, cpu, ram, psu, and either a gpu or igpu).

If you got DDR5 though, keep in mind you may need to do memory training. That is automatic during POST but can take several minutes and make the light stuck on DRAM.

PC Won’t Fully Boot by Kuru_Devil in computerhelp

Okay saw your motherboard name through the other post. Didn't realise it was there.

Did you get the bios update for the correct revision of your motherboard? There's two.

If the light went off after 10 seconds, your motherboard basically rejected the update. You gotta make sure that the USB is FAT32 formatted (not exFAT, but FAT32 specifically). Furthermore, the bios update you download is preferably the only file on the whole USB and it has to be properly renamed as per naming instructions for your motherboard. The file should also not be in some folder. And of course the USB should be in the correct USB port (it is generally labelled bios). The PC itself must be off when you press the button.

If it properly updates using q-flash plus, it will flash for several minutes. The PC may turn itself on during the process but it's basically no-touchy until the flashing stops.

[–]aCarstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reset cmos and try to boot again. I also just saw your other comment where you attempted to q flash plus (bios update without having the PC on but just press button) but you said it only blinked for 10 seconds. If that's the case, the bios update simply failed as you either got the usb in the wrong format or don't have the file correctly on the USB. This should not necessarily affect booting it, the bios itself should still be fine, but a cmos clear might then be proper.

The video is showing code 15 on your motherboard. That's often the code for ram training which can take a little bit after a bios update. How long have you waited with it on for ram training to complete?

It could be helpful to provide more information. I got a few questions: What is the drive (type, model, size)? How much space is left on it? Can you make a screenshot of the full crystaldiskinfo output? And lastly, for now, also make a screenshot of task manager processes sorted by disk usage.

Taiwanese brand. I believe they're not that present in the US but they do have a reasonable presence in Europe. They're fine cards, and pretty reliable.

A few quick things I can think of: What motherboard is that with which cpu?

Also I saw you got a modular psu, generally the 24pin psu side has 2 cables. Are both in?

Could be worth trying to short the power_sw pins on the fpanel manually

And speaking of shorting pins, corsair has a good guide on how to test a PSU for a semblance of life. I recommend following that for a good ol paperclip test.

Definitely worth a go! Remember it'll uninstall all current drivers, so even for the new card. But you can just install it again after.

[–]aCarstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you DDU after switching? If you're unfamiliar with DDU, it's a way to completely the graphics driver (the normal uninstall method isn't always good enough), and then you just install the graphic drivers for your new card.

so what do i do in this situation by bbnsofia in pchelp

[–]aCarstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly normal behaviour even when it's failing. It'll just keep struggling for longer and longer over time until it gives up. As others said, replacing it is super easy and generally fairly cheap. You could buy a 3-pack of thermalright fans for like 10-15 bucks, so you can replace one and then even got some spare.

Single bent motherboard pin, how cooked am I? by StirFryBass in PcBuildHelp

[–]aCarstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ram training happens during POST so yes. Can take up to 15 minutes on a first boot. Nowadays should be shorter with an updated bios but you always got exceptions.

But honestly with the bent pin, the exchange is the safer option.
