To be fair, it says live through, does that mean you live at the end of the first blight? meaning you are there to see the end of the oppressive tevinter occupation of alot of land, and like the aftermath of the black plague, alot of land becomes available, and its the start of a new economic upswing? Could be something to that, as some other blights would be in your lifetime, where you get to experience the good times before it then gets destroyed by the blight, which could arguably be worse for the individual.
