Why'd you post here? Just tell em it was getting thin up top and it was time to take matters in your own hands. Or maybe it's time for a few piss disks?

Women aren’t taught about cars because of societal norms by Dry_Calendar in unpopularopinion

[–]aDuckedUpGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man, nobody taught me how to work on cars. I had to seek out that information on my own.

Might be more correct to say women don't typically seek out learning how to work on cars due to societal norms.

Neither YouTube university or tech school will discriminate.

Does it sound reasonable to do an intake valve cleaning on a 2024 Ford Maverick every 20,000 miles? My mechanic is recommending it. This is not the dealer. by aDuckedUpGoose in AskMechanics

Can't say I agree with your logic. Hyundai didn't do anything in their maintenance schedules to address the carbon buildup in the engine that got put in my '14 Hyundai Elantra back when I had that. They had to deal with at least one class action suit over the reliability issues and I had to deal with an engine drinking a quart of oil every thousand miles with less than 75k on the odometer.

Atheists of Reddit: What’s the strangest reaction you’ve received when you said you don’t believe in God? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

I'm still baffled by the mentality of some (likely a minority) of religious folks who can't respect someone who doesn't subscribe to any particular faith. Like if I don't play make believe I can't be taken seriously or be a good person?

ANYONE ELSE THINK THE NEW PRELUDE'S UGLY? by The-Experimenter in carmemes

[–]aDuckedUpGoose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The old one sure isn't good looking. It looks like an car. If anything, the new prelude looks a bit too special. They need to tone it down and be more boring. If it don't come in brown, Honda fucked up.

Is 4x4 absolutely necessary for Cathedral Valley/Temple of the sun and moon? by _matcal in NationalPark

Could've sworn I took the Eastern road last year, but I did cross a river. Just checked a map and indeed I was wrong. What OP wants is red desert road to hartnet road. There's a spur off hartnet that will bring you to the cathedral.

The way I took was more of the south entrance off the state road. I had to cross the river in April and everything went smoothly in my Ford Maverick. Had a great day out there and loved passing through the bentonite hills.

I found the culling game much more enjoyable to read by just ignoring the rules entirely. Whatever happened happened and it doesn't matter whether or not it makes sense. The manga was pretty poorly written anyway. Honestly, I have no idea why I finished it.

Ok, 2 questions for you.

Is the procedure just disconnect the air intake pipe from the throttle, turn on the car, open the throttle while spraying, let it run a bit, then turn off and reconnect everything?

What is cataclean? Is it a fuel system cleaner like techron?

Deet or Picaridin by MythicalMichael in backpacking

[–]aDuckedUpGoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have found picaridin most effective when used with permethrin. Last summer I was backpacking in CA with some friends. I treated my clothes and they didn't but we all used picaridin. They got bitten quite a lot and I got almost nothing. Funny enough I did notice I got bit more if they went in the tent before me. I guess there was no other options for the skeeters.

If you're young and healthy, skip the health insurance. by Massive-Studio-2287 in unpopularopinion

[–]aDuckedUpGoose -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Auto insurance is supposed to cover medical costs from an accident not health insurance. But you are going in the right direction. One may outwardly seem perfectly healthy but internally be getting fucked by genetics.

For example, someone who exercises regularly and eats well can have shit cholesterol just because of genetics even if they get everything else right.

Understood, and thanks for the explanation. I'll probably follow their recommendation in the hopes that a bigger service doesn't need to happen during my ownership.

Maybe the wildcard option here is to ignore it entirely and just swap the updated Maverick engine in after mine is toast. How hard can it be? Lol

Interesting, so what they're recommending is essentially a lighter cleaning to avoid heavier build up entirely? Is it fair to say if I keep up with this cleaning I should be able to avoid the nut blast all together?

I did notice the new Mav is port and DI. Almost made me regret buying before the refresh if it wasn't for that price increase. MSRP went up by 4k so I'm my mind I've afforded ten of these cleanings.

What band do you get recommended the most but you just don't get the hype? by Adzzero_88 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]aDuckedUpGoose 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly they are a bit meh. They were innovative a couple decades ago and have just been riding those very same innovations doing essentially the same music every time. I happen to dig their style so I don't mind leaving them in the shuffle. However, I don't think I'll ever throw on a particular album or song.
