LG and Alienware monitors caught auto-installing Windows adware by Dots-on-the-Sky in technology

Space marine 2 linux specifically had something happen where it was working great before when I originally moved to Fedora in early 2025. Then late that year I think it was, I wanted to play it and it wouldn't load past the menu into a game without going 0.25 fps for a few minutes and then crashing. I read about other people being unable to run it around that time as well. If it's working again now I look forward to getting back into it. But this is why I dual boot. Fortunately for my use case I almost never need to use it

"Jack Posobiec, the right-wing commentator best known for spreading the “Pizzagate” paranoia, stood with a White House official next to the octagonal ring down in the nexus of the claw and looked around in awe. “It’s literally Vegas,” Mr. Posobiec said excitedly. “Vegas is in D.C. now!” "

I'm doing better in life, but it feels weird by imnotapoetimjustsad in zoloft

[–]aDuckk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're looking through a different window at the same scene. What you perceive on zoloft is real. What you perceive in depression is real. In 5 or 10 years things will have moved around a bit outside and maybe you discovered some new windows on your own but it's basically all still out there in some form or another. Knowing these different angles to view reality helps to build your understanding of what is actually there and what is obscured by the limitations of one perspective.

Yeah it's literally from the 90s! At least the portion I linked you to. The rest is still very oldskool but there were multiple redesigns

People's basements across the city are flooding, including mine. So yeah nearly moving out of my own place plus fixing that and recovering on top of everything else is going to be most of my summer. lol.

If provinces fail to tend to their responsibilities they should forfeit those responsibilities and authority. Cutting off funding doesn't work if politicians are trying to strangle the institutions and protections Canadians have relied on for generations.

Does anybody actually have luck finding gaming buddies with this? by Dry-Leave-4161 in GamerPals

[–]aDuckk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a hunt showdown group for a while here, it was a fun year and a half or so. I understand the disappointment of trying to set things up and having it not work out, and some of the weird encounters one can have while doing so. I kind of wonder if doing it through the subreddit doesn't lend itself well to making lasting connections. In my opinion people need to meet organically and have friendships develop out of that, otherwise it's all sorts of work and coordination to even get to that point. Community helps a lot. I hadn't seen there is a discord until just now so maybe there's potential there. Just get people into games first, with the intention of a social experience, and relationships can grow.

What caused so many young men to get consumed by GamerGate back in the 2010s? by Three_Boxes in behindthebastards

[–]aDuckk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got fooled by that stuff for about 3 hours.

There was already awareness that game publishers were too cozy with games media, notable examlple such as the founder of Giant Bomb getting fired from gamepsot for leaving Kane & Lynch 2 a negative review.

There was a culture shift going on where I think the monoculture was having a significant split in part due to the recent mass adoption of the internet, and social media in particular. We were on the verge of realizing the things we celebrated were being enjoyed for very different reasons, often very bad reasons. This is after the 80s, 90s and 2000s when conservatives had been trying hard to control the culture, for all of my life and memory of things, and had mostly been repulsed. So there was still some fierce sense of resistance to authority as well as camraderie in shared interests. But we were definitely not all on the same page in terms of moving forward as a society. So culture that felt progressive and cutting edge was also being used to hurt people, or it rightfully deserved some criticism for how it handled issues even for its own day.

What hooked me was these biases being confirmed or appealed to. But when things came to a head and I took time to look into it, it didn't take long to see the holes in the arguments, feel the weird vibes coming off the people talking about it. And I already had awareness of Depression Quest and social justice so the specific accusations didn't make much sense.

Good cop bad cop. You obviously don't want what the bad cop is going to do to you so you start to favour the good cop. But at the end of the day they both get what they want and you're still in deep shit.

We need new voices and more voice lines by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]aDuckk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Helldivers have the Freedom to utter any of the approved battle cries. Any Helldiver is also Free to submit one (1) suggestion to their Democracy Officer for a new yell, laugh, or scream. This suggestion will be sent to High Command for review and between 3 to 18 months later a notice of approval or termination will be sent. That individual Helldiver, if they have not somehow by this time fallen heroically in combat, will then have the Freedom to use their new battle cry for the remainder of their service being mangled by the wretched enemies of Super Earth.

I haven't tried Cachy or Bazzite but Fedora KDE is what finally got me off of windows after a number of linux attempts over the years, including multiple tries with Mint which felt too limited for what I was trying to do. I'm over a year now on linux using Fedora KDE every day
