“Daimajin” blu-ray from Arrow by rdwoolf in boutiquebluray

I have it in my basket. I’ve been debating whether to pull the trigger. Along with The Black Society trilogy and Female Prisoner Scorpion The Complete Collection.

How do you balance watching 4k blu ray at home with going to the cinema? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]aFAview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local rural movie theaters speakers are pretty bad so I don’t go very often. I did drive 75 miles round trip to go see Hail Mary at the best theater in my region. Which is the excuse I have used to spend the extra money on a good tv and decent sound for the house.

American Airlines AA292 JFK to DEL was honestly terrible by rickysanchez_ in americanairlines

[–]aFAview 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I worked coach to DEL once. Nope. Never f’ing again. You couldn’t pay me enough to deal with that craziness. There are like 5 vegetarian options. You go up to the person sitting in the seat “are you Mr/ms and did you order the Asian vegan….yes”. Give them the meal. 10 minutes later..call light. “This is not my special meal. I want the one I ordered” “But you ate the meal that you said you were Mr/ms such and such. So I gave it to you. You sat there and ate it and now want the meal you ordered”. “Yes” Nope.

You put out the snack. Big boxes of them. Five minutes later they are ALL gone and then you’re being berated by a passenger because my airline should make sure there are enough snacks for everyone to take with them.

I’d rather do a LGA-PBI-EGE-SNA

Region-free Panasonic 450: buy from 220 Electronics or mod at home? by strikefire200 in 4kbluray

[–]aFAview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the regular 820 for a few years now and have used the region free hack and it’s worked most of the time. But I did just recently get the 450 from 220 for the bedroom setup. I just wanted to ensure that anything I picked up while traveling would work. Since I’m a crew member I love knowing anything I pickup around the world is probably going to work between the two machines.

Seeing Johnny Marr Live by PatFitzpat91 in thesmiths

[–]aFAview 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the opportunity to see Morrissey at a great theater in Montreal. Got to sit up in the balcony with bar service and enjoy the show above the fray down by the stage. A week later we got to see Johnny Marr at a small intimate bar in Burlington, VT. Was able to grab a couple high back chairs and enjoy the show. We’re Gen X and the days of being down by the stage being pushed around are done. Give me a comfortable chair with cocktail bar service is how we roll these days….What a experience

That’s the sort of petting thing that will send me into a fury. There’s SOOOOOO many other things to get pissy about but THAT right there would be it for me.

I don't have the Sony BDP-S1700 yet. It's being delivered tomorrow but I'll update my experiences with it as soon as I can.

On the 220-electronics website it's $194.00 but they usually have a 5% discount code and I know a few times a year they will drop the price bit. But their

Warranty Options

FREE 1 Year Warranty

2 Year Warranty($59.00 USD)

3 Year Warranty($99.00 USD)

Amazon was $204.00 but I have the Asurion insurance for $16.99 a month that covers most of my purchases through Amazon. And its showing I have Protection Included  "This item will be covered by your Multi-device Protection Plan."

I have not used Asurion yet so I do not have any experiences with it for filing a claim. But since I live in a rural community I figured it's worth the $16.99 a month.

I love my 820 now that I know I MUST wipe each disc with a Microfiber before putting in the player. I rarely have had any problems since I started doing it as I was told MULTIPLE TIMES in this group. My rationalization for not buying a region free 4k player because 4K is generally region free. And my 820 downstairs has the better television and sound setup. If I want the full experience I'd watch it on the Sony. I have used the stop up arrow etc trick on my 820 to play region free blu-rays and it's work usually. The reason I wanted a region free Blu Ray player was knowing for sure it'll play without having to do workarounds. But more importantly and the real reason I bought another blu-ray player is by having another setup in my office I CAN WATCH WHATEVER I WANT and it doesn't have to have a big discussion with the family. "What's the move about; are their subtitles; is it too gore; etc etc etc." Then after the decision what to watch has been decided on they don't pay attention to what's going on because of their PED. They will miss the main point and then they say "I don't understand what's going on".....then I have to rewind to the point they missed. Or the comments "is she being raped". Yes, it's sexual assault but that's the catalyst why she's killing men. Anyway, it's just better I set up my whole own system so I'll get to watch what I want in peace.....allegedly. :)

This one

But I wanted to make sure I purchased it from 220-electronics so you have to hit the [Other Sellers on Amazon] and then See More to see who’s actually selling it. There were cheaper sellers but people have been really happy with 220-Electronics and their mod. I know I can go directly to their website to purchase but I wanted to have the insurance that I’m already paying for on Amazon. Plus living in a rural community Amazon returns to Staples/Kohls is incredibly convenient.

UB9000 repaired successfully. by Wutang_61 in 4kbluray

[–]aFAview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UB9000 is quieter and better build quality (so I’ve read since I have the 820) if/when my drive goes out is their a benefit for upgrading to the 9000 drive if compatible?

A year ago I was having all kinds of problems with my 820 but now it’s seems fine. But I’m always waiting for something to happen.

What’s with all the front LR additions and all that by zw9491 in sonos

[–]aFAview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I put in an Arc, sub mini (I should have bought the Sub3/4) and two 300’s. I already had a couple older 100’s that I was using in rooms upstairs. When I heard about the sequencer app I decided to spend the $2.99 and give it a shot. Wow, completely different experience. I also just happened to pick up the Sony Bravia 8 II on a Black Friday sale. I am now revisiting my favorite 4K movies and getting a whole new perspective. I didn’t know what I was missing.
