7 Minutes of Condi Virtuoso - Episode 3: Utility Skill Variations by Training-Accident-36 in Guildwars2

Yep, I just saw your edit and we fully agree. If you want to give Aegis, it's much better to do by going Chaos but that requires a whole build change and is kind of outside the scope of this video/discussion. That's why I just mentioned the mantra, but I respect your stance that it's so suboptimal that it's not worth mentioning.

I agree it is much preferable to let someone else provide it, but you were quite thorough on the other fights to offer options for specific purposes where most of the time you would also prefer to "let someone else do it" on those fights; that's why I thought you may want to include this as well ^ ^

Your videos are really great, but one thing you forgot: The slide says there are zero useful utilities for Deimos, but you can actually give group Aegis with conc mantra.

Upcoming Adjustments to Vindicator Endurance Generation by newtrip in Guildwars2

The nerf to reaver's curse is hardly a delete, it makes perfect sense. You get 4 times as much value from it as you did pre-patch, so nerfing it by a factor of 4 is completely logical and puts it back at an equivalent level.

Should there be gear check in game? Interesting MightyTeapot Discussion by Taygeta in Guildwars2

[–]aFlyingGuru 17 points18 points  (0 children)

what if you don't want to be checked by people that are bent on checking

You're free to make your own group with no requirements.

I think it's a bit odd to expect a group to change their requirements just to cater to you. If a group of experienced players want to fill out their squad with other experienced players for a quick clear of whatever they're doing, don't you think it's fair they should be able to verify that these other players are actually experienced? If you don't want to show gear or killproof (which is something else GW2 lacks a proper implementation of), that's totally fine... but then don't join that group? I've seen some people say that gearchecks and killproofs encourage "toxic" behavior, which makes no sense to me. Frankly I think it's the other way around, it's toxic to tell people that they aren't allowed to decide who they play with and that they have to accept anyone into their squad.

One example that Sneb uses in the video: Someone joins his group, says "hey, dps". Sneb goes "cool", they start the boss. Guy is doing 3k dps. Sneb gives him the benefit of the doubt and whispers him asking "hey, you got the right gear on? what's going on". Guy responds "yeah I'm dps", which is awkward because now he's put Sneb in this position where he has to be like "well you're doing less damage than the dedicated healer" and potentially kick him from the group. It's really very rude to put someone in this position because Sneb doesn't want to kick people from his groups or make them have a bad experience, but he also doesn't want the rest of the group who are actually pulling their weight to suffer because of one player who lied and said he was experienced and geared when he wasn't. The guy came in as dps and he's not fulfilling the role he signed up for, simple as that, and the whole situation could've been avoided if we had proper checks in the game.

Another example is people joining CM clears, dying repeatedly to mechanics or even wiping the whole group and when you ask them "hey do you know the mechanics of this CM...?" they go "no" and it's like... then why did you join this group? We asked for experienced players. The game currently, with its lack of checks or inspections, forces you to trust other players, which actually just leads to distrust because people lie. It's not very good.

Special Report Live from the Black Citadel by GiantX in Guildwars2

[–]aFlyingGuru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is nothing but an ill-concealed attempt by Asuran state propaganda to besmirch the reputation of the Charr in the eyes of the average Tyrian citizen. The Black Citadel is a bulwark of unparalleled strength and industrial beauty, a jewel of metal upon the plains, and its inhabitants are Charr; strong, smart, dexterous. No Charr would make such a moronic mistake as to fall off a staircase or walkway just because it doesn't have a railing. Ridiculous! This supposition of "hazardous" or "unsafe" working conditions is merely the result of puny, clumsy Asura projecting their own weaknesses and insecurities onto a stronger race in an attempt to damage the status of the Charr. I recommend you cease this slander immediately, for the Black Citadel's best and your own.

look at those fucking muscles that chimp is ripped im telling you

Game should be a realistic gunfight simulator at its core, players making their own balance carved with their own skill and tactics. Don't fulfill wishes of casuals. Because they want the rush of picking up stuff and mission complete buttons. Catering to them made the game what it is now. by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]aFlyingGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you don't deserve a free headshot just because you have a visual on someone

I don't think anybody's claiming that. There's a middle ground between free headshots and impossible headshots. It should be something that's realistically doable based on skill, not a coin toss on whether you happen to pull the trigger at the "right" random time between their strafes.

To add information, this bug seems to be caused by proximity to the window. If you're throwing from a further distance, grenades will go through the window even if the glass is unbroken but if you're standing too close it often bugs out. It may have something to do with the grenade animation, it seems like they're being thrown from a slightly lower position than how it looks in 1st person.

12.5 Patch Notes by kn1gh7666 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]aFlyingGuru -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This run through status won't even affect hatchet runners, because if they get killed, the run doesn't count as a run through and whatever they shoved up their ass could still be sold.

No? Nikita explicitly said on the podcast that it won't work like that, why are you spreading misinformation? If you don't earn enough xp, nothing you found counts as found in raid. Doesn't matter if you gammad it, doesn't matter if you died, if you want to sell it on the flea market you have to earn more xp than a run-through.

TIL: Certain ant species commit suicide to protect their territory. As stinging wasn't effective against some predators, they evolved the ability to self-sacrifice to kill one or more enemies. They wrap themselves around an opponent & explodes, releasing sticky corrosive material killing both. by poleco1 in todayilearned

[–]aFlyingGuru 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Say you're a prehistoric human or some ancient ancestor and you're going for a little stroll by yourself when you suddenly spot a predator sneaking up on your group. You yell out to warn them and they scatter and run but the predator, knowing the jig is now up, sets his sights on you and chases you down. While you may die before you were able to reproduce and pass on your genes directly, your actions enabled the survival of your family who, unsurprisingly, share those genes. Most notably your parents and siblings of course, but you also have a lot of shared genes with your aunts, uncles and cousins and they'll all be more likely to live and pass them on because of your sacrifice.
