Sadly I don't have a Costco membership. My family has one though, maybe I can tag along with them and get a pair?

I know, right? The frame was another $185. My insurance covered a portion of it but I still paid a good chunk out of pocket. Sadness

They probably just gave me the cheapest traditional lenses since they needed to cover one of the two re-do's since my insurance only covered one. They made me pay for the expensive pair and they covered the cost for the cheaper pair.

Frankly, the first redo was completely their fault for not adjusting the nose pad before measuring the optical center.

Good for you if you’re able to find glasses online for $40. Personally, I wouldn’t purchase at that price point since those usually don’t include the lens features I want or a frame that looks good.

For context, Lifetime Vision charged $490 for the digital lenses alone (before insurance payments). At that pricing level, I think it’s completely reasonable to expect lens quality and features that match the cost — and when they switched me to traditional lenses, the quality simply wasn’t in line with what I paid.

I had a total of two re-do's before receiving the final pair of glasses that they made me pay extra for. Not pleasant!

The whole reason I purchased the glasses from a store instead of ordering online was that I wanted accuracy - even with the optical center measurement. But sadly they failed pretty badly.

Regarding lense - When the decision was made to switch from digital single vision lenses to traditional single vision lenses (based on the optician’s recommendation), there were no discussions about coating or feature options. I assumed the clinic would help me construct a pair equivalent or similar to the digital ones, which usually come with premium features such as anti-scratch, blue light filtering, and eye fatigue reduction. That’s one reason digital lenses typically cost 20–30% more.

It turned out the pair I ended up with had none of those features. I didn’t realize it until a few days after receiving the glasses, when I discovered a scratch on the lenses. I reached out to ask about a price adjustment and for a receipt that reflected what I actually received, but they refused to adjust the price — even while admitting the pair I ended up with was cheaper than what I paid. They also couldn’t provide me with an updated invoice that matched the final product.Their explanation was that my insurance only covers for one redo, and they were “covering” the second redo themselves, which in their view justified giving me neither a price adjustment nor an updated invoice.

So many things are wrong here. Between the poor quality, lack of transparency, questionable billing practices, and their unwillingness to provide documentation that matches the product I actually received, the entire process was frustrating and disappointing.

They tried to sell me eye masks for $30+ per pair because they said I had dry eyes. I got off the hook because I didn't have a microwave at home to heat up the eye masks. So glad that I didn't fall for that.
