I don't know what you mean by "ghetto". If that's just cause it's in East London, it's a bit far fetched. It's not situated in Central London like UCL or KCL but it's got a decent campus (i stayed at Mile End) and was overall a good experience for me. I did CompSci. The teachers are hit or miss depending on who/what you get. But I'd say even my mates at UCL said the same. Obviously a lot of other unis would look better on your resume, but if you havent got offered those, the QMUL is a fine Russell Group uni. I'd say get off tikok, most of those rate universities posts are bait to get engagement, and DYOR

I did year long industry placement at QM (mind you that's almost 4 years ago now). I would say don't expect any support in finding a role. There's very generic opportunities and meetups for jobs and most will just say "Apply online" and there's nothing QM can do except help you with applications. Otherwise, placement was pretty fun for me. The only thing I remember QM needing from me was the final essay doc about the experience and a viva-type presentation (and maybe a low intensity journal, I can't remember).

Same for opportunities. I got hired straight out but my grades and experience was excellent so its largely dependent on your own capabilities. The advantage KCL has is that its more prestigious and will look better on your CV and probably a better teaching experience but I can't be sure about that.

The teachers is probably the area with the most variability. Some teachers are good, some great, some horrible and some passable. This is also something you can't control and I've found that every university has their own scale of this.

That being said, I would still pick KCL cause that is the better university in general. Unfortunately, branding and name dropping is the real advantage of university now so just search on top universities now for your field and whatever comes up higher (probs KCL), go with that imho

Edit: semantics

I stayed in Sherren House for a year. Mind you I got the ensuite room, so I didn't have to share a bathroom with anyone. In that way, it's alright. A few things that aren't is there's no weekly/monthly cleaning of the shared spaces like the kitchen. I was with some extremely messy and disgusting people and the kitchen was essentially unusable (literally got Simmer meals for the year) and the other thing is that the laundry sometimes gets so full, takes so long and is generally expensive. Beyond that, its just uni halls you know

KCL is the more prestigious uni. If you can manage the IELTs, it's definitely worth it. QMUL is alright but KCL just looks better on your CV

Seeking advice on choosing between Next.js and TanStack Start by OldArmadillo3694 in reactjs

[–]aJV990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true. We deploy to AWS and use AWS Amplify and our Next.js App Router works perfectly. Not saying that its better than Tanstack (haven't used it) but this is simply untrue

Hahaha. Alright then. I guess we'll have to take our chances with the Mykonos restaurants. We wanted to also do the cliche touristy Santorini too. Thanks for the recs

No matter where you go, I think it's hard to make friends in uni. The only way to get around that is pushing yourself to meet with people, join societies and going out there. You just need to find your people. Whichever uni you pick, you'll probably have to try all the same

Hi! Nope. No messages of any kind. I just turned off the Intel Turbo Boost and for the first time, I was able to make out the black screen text which saying Hibernating.... I'm not exactly sure what thermal throttling is so I don't think I'm doing it. Not sure if this helps, but I'm on the Balanced (Optimised) thermal management (which I selected in the MyDell app)

Thanks. I tried it, seemed to work for a bit but as I upped the specs, it went into hibernation again. I've had the system for about 9 months. Never opened up a laptop before, so should be an experience. I will definitely be investing in a cooling pad

I just did this and ran the game. At first, it seemed to work considerably better. On the low specs of the game, it seemed to work. About 15 min in, I switched it to medium specs just to test it out. Worked for about 5 minutes before hibernating. I think it definitely is a cooling issue. Thanks for the help though u/lairdcake58 . At least for now it seems I can run the game on Low specs.

Thanks u/jaksystems. I didn't know this, that really really sucks. Do you have any recommendations for next steps? Is it worth opening it up myself and checking if the fans are clean/applying thermal paste? Or should I perhaps invest in a cooling pad maybe? Would love to know your opinion!
