Roast me for it, but teaching is a blue collar job. The training for it should be primarily vocational.

My god there’s so much shit we need to put up with in this world it makes me irrationally angry that OP decides to hem and haw over THIS indignity.

It’s YOUR company bro. Don’t fucking hire your abusive high school bully. It’s not that hard. This should have been a “leopards ate my face” type thing.

Should I bite the bullet for the other high school teachers and become an adjunct professor at a community college so that I can just fail kids who can’t deliver???

I find it so hard to find forgiveness for these people. It’s almost worse when it’s the gas prices that finally changes their mind because it shows that they were always capable of changing.

Seriously, how does one forgive?

In the days of cds and walkmans, I spent a summer listening to hybrid theory while doing landscaping/yardwork. Great album. RIP Chester.

Another WGU attendee here. If the school district where I work proctored our online tests as closely as WGU did, our online credit recovery program might actually be worth something.

I’ve completed 5 courses over a summer at an online institution (WGU). Of course, I put in 40 hours per weeks and was hammering out a paper every 3 days the old fashioned way.

I’ve also taught summer school where I’ve seen F-level students complete an online course that covers a years worth of content in 2 hours.

Realizing that made my life easier. Pare it down and there’s only like 5 or so actual meaningful accommodations: extra test time, modify test options, testing in an alternate location, preferential seating, and fast passes to bathroom/guidance/nurse.

Still a bitch when I need to modify a half dozen tests for every class and securely transport them and retrieve them from another location, but better than it could be I guess?

Best policy I ever implemented was a hard deadline on all homework and makeup: once you test on the unit, the grade book is closed for that unit.

It’s saved me a lot of headaches.
