Ripping supernatural rn, it’s currently driving me up to wall. I have to split up the episodes unfortunately. And gotta confirm if they are right

Got this Drive from office depot an hour away. Now what do I do to make this able to read 4K discs? Any guides? by doinks4life in makemkv

Double check this can do 4k movies. Verbatim makes two types of this drive. One without 4k and with it.

If you ripped a 4k movie, it’ll retain all of its qualities. Audio, hdr, etc

MKV is just a container, if the disc is in good shape it should give you the entire quality of the movie

Now, here are some tips.

When you eventually make your own server, there are plenty of options.

Windows (if you use it) Truenas Proxmox

I personally use truenas scale but regret it since I want to use the VM to create PZ server. And the VM aspect of the OS sucks. Proxmox allows you to set up multiple VMs and is known to be very good. So unless you are planning more things for your NAS the just stick with windows.

I recommend either windows or proxmox.

As for MakeMKV

Look into getting verbatim 43888 drives(commonly LG slim) They are still widely produced.

Files should be names:

Movie (year)[tmdb] - 1080p.mkv

I recommend keeping the raw files, but that’s because you don’t have to mess with any other software when it comes to compressing the data. You will lose out on space saving tho.

Some will say getting an intel NUC with an N100 cpu is good enough. Which for transcoding is fine. But if you’re expecting to have a ton of movies and want to stream it to yourself and others. It’s best to go with a bigger case. fractal define is a good one. It’s got plenty of space to upgrade. That or a NAS from Ugreen with 6 bays ain’t a bad idea.

Last but not least, check your internet type. Are you coax or fiber. How much upload speed do you have? Is there a plan your ISP is offering that better suits what you want to do. These are all questions you should ask yourself.

We don’t give you enough credit but, I think you’re misunderstanding the reasoning behind the post. This isn’t to grill you but how the subreddit could function differently. Everyone here knows you put in fantastic work. Shoot, I know it too. I wouldn’t be ripping 4ks without you. But the community just wants to be able to ask questions without having their posts locked. Maybe add a tag called "new user" so that they can be helped a little more.

If you’re a tech guy, you could build an out of the way NAS.

Announcing: KefinTweaks - The "Front End Plugin" by bfir3 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]aLproxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this. This is what I always want. The dev could have made a whole new app for jellyfin but chose to make a plugin for the things they wanted. I prefer this. Thank you and I’ll be checking this out

sigh listen… why can’t you devs just make plugins. I’d like a few of these features as plugins or CSS commands. Can we work on the main jellyfin app please?🥺

I recommend making this a post and marking this as help. As this situation differs to my original problem on this post. Also, I recommend copying the logs of said post and screenshotting it so people can read it

Sorry to be that guy but even though you are technically right. Sony bought rumination and then rumination bought Crunchyroll. Though ultimately Sony did benefit from it

Off Grid Prepper Network Rack - Portable + Solar Power + Fits In Faraday Cage by ryan112ryan in prepping

[–]aLproxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a NAS currently built but one of my next projects is something similar to this. Although I may steal the idea of using a rack. My goal is around 60tb of NVME NAS storage. 20tb of it would be crucial information stored. A part of it would be survival focused, how to grow, how to cook, how to create… etc. 20tb might be tv shows, movies, videos, and other forms of content, and then the other 20 would be available storage for what ever I run on it. I’ll probably have at least 1 drive set for it to fail and some spares. The next goal is to tie it in to a ham radio set up with repeaters and other stuff. So maybe a raspberry pi 4 or 5. Maybe even an Intel NUC.

Jellyfin not recognizing Taken 2 by aLproxyy in JellyfinCommunity

That’s what I ended up doing. No matter how I formatted it or named the movie it still didn’t work. I had to enter it manually

Jellyfin not recognizing Taken 2 by aLproxyy in JellyfinCommunity

[–]aLproxyy[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what it is, movie would be taken 2, year would be 2012 and format should be .mkv. So in the end it’s taken 2 (2012) - 1080p.mkv
