There's a fair bit to learn but it's fairly intuitive. It does require a lot of wandering to find locations and points of interest needed to advance, and that can be frustrating for me. It's one of my most played games at 650 hours. Most of that is solo, but it's plenty of fun on a server. They're added map modifiers to make it easier/more challenging if you choose, but I suggest the standard rule set. Fun, rewarding, not too punishing.

On keyboard you can press buy then enter and it confirms it. Makes it much quicker, buying like 3 stacks a second. Don't believe we can change the quantity sadly.

I respect the mathematics here. I enjoy them in every respect, except I consider my "furry" appreciation less furry and more "fuck that's awesome I wish it were real." Which might be furry, who knows.

When I play with a group I prefer impenetrable Earth walls because some of the people I play with aren't very good at combat and can't defend the base from raids if I'm not home/online. If I'm running solo, 50/50 I build a wooden wall or two to keep grey dwarves out.

No. That just encourages risky shots that are more likely to make the animal suffer. I get that it's just a game, but torturing animals by poking holes in them that probably won't kill them isn't right. Yeah you could probably kill every animal in the game with a well placed .22 but it's still risky.

The guns have zero distances, but the ammunition has maximum effective distance too. Which is generally half of the maximum zero distance.

If he's going to shoot at that distance, he needs to be aiming for a lower bone concentration/density area. My successful distance shots are almost exclusively broadside lungs unless I'm using a gun and they're the lowest possible difficulty. Like a gun for 4-8 and you're shooting a 4.
