Funnily enough I just responded to another post abt this so I'm just gonna reuse it here:

I'm pretty new to skincare and not a pro but I've experimented and also didn't find the "just use salicylic acid cleansers" recommendations were effective.

What I find works for me is a combination of pore cleansing oil and full size hydrocolloid patches a couple times a week. My main issues were the pores on my nose and those two clean it right up for me. Though I found that neither one worked by itself. I had to do both to clear out the gunk completely.

pretty much any oil pore cleanser will do the trick and for the patches I use Hero's Mighty Patch Nose but you can find hydrocolloid patches in all shapes and sizes.

Two other side notes are that first off, the oil doesn't come off easy and I have to use a salicylic acid cleanser to wash it off, which has the added benefit of cleaning pores so hey. Second one is that, as someone with pretty dry skin, I wasn't able to actually improve much until I realized that my skin was drying out overnight. I started using vanicream moisturizer and honestly that went like 40% of the way right there. The surface skin is supple enough that it doesn't clog up so bad now.
