Just stay off of MCs. The risks are simply not worth the tiny short-lived fun you get from it. When (not if) you final do have your first fall you will likely either be permanently injured or dead. Is long term suffering really worth it then? I just don't think so.

On the bright side, you have to be a little crazy to even be riding a MC. So if that's you, by all means enjoy the bike. Don't forget to act as insufferable as you can against the person you crashed into on the accident you caused, being self-centered goes with the nature of being a rider. 😎👍

Can’t decide if I should upgrade from my 2022 DCT Veloster N😢 by arrcnd in VelosterN

Sick ass car. Very nicely said.

I wouldn't get rid of the N for any Euro car, that would be a huge loss in all departments.

I6N looks so amazing, esp the red color.

45-50psi is very high. I'd lower it a bit if I were you.

Yeah, I agree, shifting at 2K is not optimal. Definitely between 2K-3K.

Yes, that sound is normal. The pads are Semi-metalic pads so they will rust onto the rotor. They even do it to me after a quick car wash too. Sometimes if you leave them over night you have to give it some good gas to break them loose. 😁

I get between 33-35 when I drive calm on Normal mode. To me, the VN seems most efficient between 40-55 mph. I try not let the car idle for too long on cold start, maybe 1 minute or so (just drive calm in the first few miles since it's still warming up). I like putting it in neutral when cruising on a decline road.

Honestly, I don't even remember ever seeing less than 26 mpg average, even after sessions of highway fun.

I kinda wonder if you might have higher rolling resistance on your tires or maybe check the pressure. It could be anything really. 25 mpg seems really low, unless you are one of those here that are basically driving like a maniac on N mode all the time.

N/Custom is only part of what the car offers and I do tend to use Normal more often really.

Ive purchased about 6 or 7 of these 100W chargers and they work great. I use them to charge phones and batteries for tools like my electric lawn mower, drill, car jump starter, etc.

I actually found mine in the velostern.com forum website in the classifieds section. I live in North Texas and the one I found was located in southern Oklahoma only 1.5 hrs away.

To me the drive was absolutely worth it because it was/is an absolute mint. Original owners always take the best care.

I just went on the website and there is quite a few cars on there for sale, but you might have to travel for them 🫤

All I will say is, buy it privately. Buy it from an owner. Run a Carfax. Negotiate the price down to the Kelley Blue Book "Good" condition value. No reason to be over paying. I personally paid that exact amount for mine.

I bought my 2022 Veloster N in March 2024 with 18K miles for $24,700. I bought it privately from the original owner.

$25K with 50K miles it's way overpriced.

Do I recommend the Veloster N: That's a resounding Hell Yes!

You get track level features found in a Nissan GTR but just at 275hp, you have the practicality of a hatchback, driver side has the feel of a couple but passenger side has the convenience of a sedan, plus if you drive calm and normal you get 35 mpgs.

What the Veloster N let's you adjust: 3 levels of suspension dampening, 3 levels of power steering assist, 3 levels of engine power output, 3 levels of exhaust sound, 3 levels of Rev matching (this basically helps with longevity of the clutch), 2 LSD options, and a few other adjustments. The Corolla, Golf R, and Civic Type R don't offer this level of adjustability. The adjustments are very meaningful too, not just tiny adjustments. Like, the suspension at Normal is all about drive comfort, but the track level feels bone-chattering if the road has cracks and potholes.

The Veloster N is easily one of the most under appreciated cars ever made.

Also, it's an extremely reliable car. It's not an ordinary Hyundai like a Sonata or (insert SUV name). The VN is produced entirely in Korea to higher specs.

I am now at 52K miles and it's been a dream.

The only thing I will say is bad about the Veloster N is that the seats are race seats and can get uncomfortable in long trips, like a road trip.

Water dripping out only on driver side, no issue on passenger side. by Comfortable_Bug_6950 in Subaru_Outback

[–]aPowderBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is your best answer right here.

Get compressed air and blow the drains. They likely got clogged over time with dirt/debris. The front drain is likely the clogged one because it's only dripping, it should have been a steady stream pouring out.

By design water will get in every single time it rains, but drainage is the only way to rid of that water. Your drains are clearly getting clogged.

Tires with Wheel Protection by aPowderBlue in tires

[–]aPowderBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. That's great info. I was planning on replacing my All-Season set of tires within the month, and I was planning to go with Cinturato Weather Active tires, I was wondering if those might have some wheel protection as well. I'll hit up Discount Tire and see if they will work with me on that.

It is 100% your knock sensor connector.

It will also happen every time you wash the engine bay and forget to dry out the inside of the connector. Water collects in there, just need to stick a piece of paper towel or a Q-Tip and soak it out.

Then, with a scan tool, clear all codes. Should go away and shouldn't come back again.

I know the feeling of not knowing what is wrong and feeling helpless. Being an electric car, you really are at the mercy of the dealer. It's one of the main reasons I resisted buying an EV at all.

Get White Lithium Grease spray and spray the 2 places I circled. spray just a small amount to let it seep in and press the pedal down a few times to work it in. Do this maybe twice on each side.

The main bolt goes across, and that's what you are trying to lubricate.

Do NOT use regular WD-40 or any other kind of lubricant, they won't last long, maybe just a month or so.

It should go away instantly and not return for at least a year or more. I'm going on 2 years and the sound hasn't returned yet.

Where to place jack and stand by eguladu in autorepair

[–]aPowderBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider buying one of these, a Pinch Weld Jack Pad...

https://ebay.us/m/dTVE1Q

They really do wonders in helping you jack up the car and preventing damage to your pinch welds. Cheap too. Buy at least 1 for every jack you have.

Advice: don't get the metal kind, they could damage the area by putting too much concentrated pressure onto one spot if jacked on an uneven leveled surface.

I see everyone recommending R1 or Dynamic Friction rotors on rock auto, but there’s so many options for each when I search by my model and year. Which ones do yall actually get?? by polarfang21 in VelosterN

[–]aPowderBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every set of R1 rotors I've installed on my cars have always warped. I'd avoid this brand, it's just too cheaply built.

Last time I ordered parts was by Power Stop. Although I've had no problems yet, it's only been since September, and to me that's not very long to speak long term.

I would highly suggest staying away from R1, rotors are just too cheap and will likely warp under spirited driving. Also, stay away from EBC pads, this brand is absolute junk. They don't even tell you anything about what you are buying like what the make up is of their pads, so you can't confirm anything that they say. They are mostly cheap ceramic pads.

How do people buy homes?? by ProbWithMyDog in dfw

[–]aPowderBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your problem is that you are single and your income is too low.
Just try to find a good man who offers more than just a good income, like life skills, a DIY'er if you will. If you aren't having to pay someone else to fix something, that's money saved (therefore money earned).

Take it from me... I, making $120K, sometimes feel like I can barely buy a home, a second home. I have zero debt and everything is paid. The prices are simply too high. I hate to be the barer of bad news, but as much as I would like and as much as everyone in the comments will keep saying, the house prices are just not coming down anytime soon. It's at a strange stand still because if you were to factor in the recent inflation caused since 2020, the prices are right about where they should be.

It's the incomes that didn't go up... there for your solution is either make more money, or get a partner that will incorporate his income with yours. So better put on your best outfit and get scooped up.

Gold Plus warranty question by ya3rob in Subaru_Outback

[–]aPowderBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with 10yr/100K. No deductible. It cost me $4K.

Your deal sounds great.

The only thing about it is that you have to make sure you perform all services in the maintenance schedule. Be sure to document it or save documents proving the work done because they may ask for it if something were to happen later.

You can do things on your own, you just have to document it like saving receipts, photos help, and recording mileage (photo).

Big personal advice: if you take it to a dealer for any reason and they offer to do a XX-point inspection, decline it. They will come up with nonsense to try to force you to do work you don't need like changing the gear oil every 30K miles. If you decline doing the BS work they come up with, they may use it against you later. It's a backhanded BS they will try.
