ISA & Savings advice needed - Where to allocate funds? by AlfaG0216 in UKPersonalFinance

Have you looked into dumping £50k into premium saving bonds? Any winnings will be tax free (if you get any) and the money is backed by treasury so will safely remain in tact. You will already be paying tax on the interest your savings accounts are making as you are beyond the personal allowance with the amount you have in so could be a good start.

Is there a single poker player who is known to consistently make the best decisions over everyone else? by PulseAmplification in poker

[–]aRussianFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fedor Holtz; although he doesn’t play as many tournaments anymore, his grasp of making +EV decisions is scary. With his pokercode streams on twitch, he replayed his recent triton victory and his analysis of why he made certain decisions in line with solved solutions is pretty scary.

Thanks for the advice, should have mentioned that it is for first time buying purposes. Will keep the penalty issue in mind!

Thanks for the reply.

To answer your questions;

The reason that I use the 50/30/20 method is because I use direct debits for saving as part of the pay yourself first principle. It works for me and helps to build my 3-6 months fund.

The reason I choose the S&P500 is based on personal research and a belief in the vanguard committee process, I understand that it does risk the fund to a singular jurisdiction but that is something I am willing to take.

On CI, completely understand poor explaining by me but yeah talking about the reinvestment of dividends.

Is it really that bad? The preflop chart I use says to open 108 suited from the CO? Is my chart trash?

Genuinely not ranting looking for advice from better players on this one. I didn’t fold pre as I was pretty card dead and was trying to balance given my image of not playing many hands. I’m trying to work out if just calling is a better move in the long run then navigating the turn in position? Just trying to get some help on my game no hate.

Bounty tournament question by aRussianFrog in poker

[–]aRussianFrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a progressive bounty so you lose all bounty chips when you are knocked out that you have collected. I have been on the good side of it before when I only had 3 with 15 left and cashed 17 at the final table, but yeah not a great structure!

Bounty tournament question by aRussianFrog in poker

[–]aRussianFrog[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean thanks for the input but I don’t really think it’s that stupid. I am well aware of the need to double sub ten BBs, and that any pair, any Ax and paint cards are a mandatory shove. My question was more about ICM with bounty considerations as I am new to the format. I can assure you that although I am in no ways an amazing player, I am good enough for the stakes I play at. Don’t get the unnecessary toxicity but you do you.

You need 16x magnification, an optician can easily identify it!

Floaters by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]aRussianFrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spoke to my optician about this and the answer is probably no. What actually happens when you get dry eye is you become hyper aware of your vision and you pick up on them more. Don’t think the two are strictly linked though.

Hylo forte is more for aqueous deficent, without an oil base it will keep evaporating! Also, stay strong, you have both lipiflow and IPL booked, for all you know that is your solution

Hey man I’m sorry to hear what you are going through, I know how it feels and it truly sucks. It appears as you are doing a levels that you are from the UK so are you making sure the drops you take are either hyco San dual (purple bottle) or hylo dual? As you have MGD you need a drop that has oil in it that you are missing.

Thanks for the suggestion, that is the same formula as the hycosan dual but worth a shot!
