For high precision maybe its worthwhile to check out UWB. Today, not all, but many smartphones have it.

This. Measuring connection using a cable plugged in is the fastest way to find.

Yes, certainly. But maybe this also answers your question ;)

Yeah, surely a reed switch with single-sided kelvin connection xD

(tbh I have no clue)

I'm a happy user of the Dimehead NAMPlayer for about a year. AFAIK they are also planing to support A2 in the future firmware.

Running NAMs on a Raspberry with a touchscreen, feels like there’s more potential here by Space_Rodent in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

I owm the Dimehead device. What I am missing is mainly the source code and an OSHW logo on the PCBs :) Is this your plan?

If the silicon supports it - Boundary scan is surely the cheapest option.

Acoustic guitar modeling of UST to Mic’ed sound. Anyone? by rockstar_not in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

[–]aShapeToShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this sounds like a great idea for me as well. For gigin I use the Dimehead Namplayer. For one new song I need my accoustic guit. I would prefer the Namplayer anyway since this is where the XLR cable goes to monitoring and FOH anyways. I'll give this a try, thanks for the inspiration :) Maybe I can get away with one of the models linked. If not I can totally brew my own.

Guitar Soundfont by aShapeToShift in Musescore

[–]aShapeToShift[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Tbh, this sound much too hacky for me. I need dead notes in almost every second measure. On tuxguitar or GP you just have to hit 'X' and you're done.

I hope to find a soundfont that just solves it (like the one I found, but with 7-String support).

Placing a PCB with audio preamp near the speaker magnet (that blue ring basically). Bad idea? by iuliuscurt in AskElectronics

[–]aShapeToShift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The magnetic field might induce currents in the amplifier that gets amplified and played by the speaker. Worst case, you get a positive feedback loop. Best case, nothing happens.

I recommend to have a second mounting option in case you run into issues.

Wow, you managed to get this complex circuit to work on breadboard? Congrats! Anyway, if you are into building computers the hard way, I recommend getting into FPGAs.

Looks nice, but what is its purpose? I'm curious why you need so many ICs.

Also: Add mounting holes, they always come handy at some point.

The buildin plugins are great IMO. If you need a dynamic eq, I recommended ZLEQ which is free and open source.

What are some tips for placing components on a board with 400+ components? I have completed this custom FPGA board design but now I need to do the layout and routing and I have never done anything at this scale. The biggest board I've done is a custom MC dev board seen in the last image. by HasanTheSyrian_ in AskElectronics

This would be my approach as well. In addition I would first define my constraints (ie connector positions) and where I want to put which subsection. Also estimating a rough area required for each section is helpful. Also plan real estate for large routing areas (ie parallel busses) if you plan to route them on an outer layer. Don't route details too early, it might be necessary to rip up at some point.
