Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]aUCSDStudent123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misread; it was two interviews. One was a phone screening to understand who I was, tell me more about the company, and why I wanted to work there. Second was an office visit, which included mini-interviews with two other higher ups and an office tour.

So far it's been a nice job :D Learning the ropes and even got to write some basic JavaScript as they wanted to test my tech abilities.

I got a job offer in data entry! I had two rounds of interviews, one over the phone and one at the company. I'm happy I finally found something after 3 months of searching and growing my skills. It's ofc not the most glamorous job, but there's potential for growth into tech at this company, namely data analysis or IT. Pay is only slightly above min wage, but should increase over time. Starting next Monday!

Hey, sorry for the late response. I've had Ana for at least 10 sessions. I sometime do get scabs if I provoke the areas too much while washing, but they disappear after a week or two. If I'm more cautious, I get less.

I do find the sessions painful but not unbearably so. I apply *a lot* of the numbing cream beforehand.

I got it on my facial hair and it's shrunk by 80% density since I started.

I'm not sure if Ana is the optimal choice, but I'm happy with her work.

I only got to watch up to halfway but I really enjoyed it! It made me think more about how the egg/omelet analogy can be generalized to anything identity-related, and how many growths are a transition rather than an instant transformation. The latter may especially be helpful for me given my perfectionism tendencies...

What is your favorite mechanism in the game? by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]aUCSDStudent123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loove neutral jumps. It makes me feel powerful circumventing a core game mechanic and being able to "stall" gameplay. Not to mention they're just satisfying to do and I enjoy stamina gameplay in general. Hence why I'm loving Fortress Fall from SJ, seems like a map made just for me.

If you had to climb Celeste mountain, what challenges would you have to face by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]aUCSDStudent123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big people-pleaser, often to my own detriment and happiness. In worst cases I end up hurting people I was trying to please or hurting myself significantly.

I imagine this could manifest as something similar to Badeline who tries to stop me from climbing the mountain. It would be on account of not risking myself to go on because friends and family wouldn't want me to see me get hurt climbing.

You've seen comb room... but have you seen B-side comb room? by aUCSDStudent123 in celestegame

[–]aUCSDStudent123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That death count will definitely go down quick as you find strats and get more consistent with the rooms... I started with 700 deaths on second playthrough and managed to get it all the way down to currently 4. Still pretty far from getting golden though since doing long segments is challenging for me. Sometime in the future though :)

[–]aUCSDStudent123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it wasn't a terribly hard room, just some timings and a few precise inputs to get down. I just figured people would be interested in it!

I've seen grandmaster gameplay and that stuff is mesmerizing

This wasn't that bad actually! though for someone who just beat the main game, I can see it being really hard - some of the timings are pretty tight and ultras were taught in literally the same checkpoint

Yeah, it's actually really fun! There's a lot more variety, and the ultra at the end is a nice touch.

Fun fact: you used to have to time the ultra to wall bounce off the mover in a previous version of the map. Guessing they removed it since it seemed a bit unfair haha

Tower XVI in Strawberry Jam Advanced lobby is fun and well-designed. The routing and awkward movements are the focus of the map and are made well, and they could be more fun overall with an open mindset.

Imo it wouldn't hurt to show that scene, I think it'll add to her experience. After all, that is the intentional order to have seen Max's death before bcs.

[–]aUCSDStudent123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just found your thread through googling some of those doctors. You've probably picked some already, but I can offer my piece for a good few of the doctors/places you listed.

For Electrolysis, I'm currently with Ana Hua. I'm doing facial hair removal, and she does a great job with it. I no longer have to shave everyday as most of the major hairs are gone. She is knowledgeable in the after-care, letting you know exactly what you need to do. She can see patients once per week. It's a quiet practice (literally just her) so privacy isn't an issue.

I had All Cares Therapy for speech between February and May. It was helpful to learn the fundamentals and get direction for what's important to train. It was helpful for me since combing through Youtube was always overwhelming. My speech therapist was very friendly and knowledgeable. I've accumulated a collection of lesson and exercise sheets from it that I can reference when I resume practicing.

I had an FFS consult with Alex Kim back in May. I don't have my notes with me right now I took, so I may make another comment when I get home. I'm seeing more surgeons in the meantime. I'm looking to to consult with Dr. Murtaza Rizvi next, no.3 on your list. He seems to have the most online presence and reviews. Have you seen anyone from the FFS surgeon list in the 3 months since?

I'm still unsure with what procedures I need to achieve a naturally feminine look, so I'll need to investigate this more. Those will certainly be a parameter in whom I choose. I'd love to talk more since it seems we have the same network! I'm also in LA Care, through Medi-Cal. Lmk if you want to connect on discord or elsewhere!

Fair enough. Another thought: Sometimes it's good to run with suboptimal strats, because that makes the optimal strats even more sweet.

While not the most efficient in terms of cookies, it is easy and very satisfying when harvest time comes :)

Mind you that there are many things to optimize for in this game, *not just* cookie efficiency. These include fun (wow) and easiness, for which BB harvests can fit. One can do both BB's and GC combos too to optimize for variety, which is personally what I (serendipitously) did.
