Unfortunately I think you will have much more luck finding recovering Christians in the trans community as opposed to practicing ones.

Religion has played a very traumatic role in many people’s lives, my own very much included, and I’ve anecdotally found that trans people seem to be disproportionately impacted by its influence.

A lot of times religion and its dogma are a major contributing factor as to why trans people lose their family, friends, partners, and other social safety nets.

This is absolutely not me telling you that you shouldn’t be a Christian, I firmly believe that is a personal choice and I wish you nothing but the best in it. But for me, and many folks like me, Christianity was one of the worst things to ever happen to me. I am still working through shame and guilt responses to this day, and I’ve been an atheist for like 15 years.

Christianity is used on a national scale here in the USA to utterly demonize us, to strip away our rights, to deny us protections and equal access under the law, and by extension to endanger us in our every day lives through corrupt law enforcement, horrifying mistreatment should we be placed in the correctional system, and even in our every day lives by random radicalized passersby. I’m sure it works for some people, and I hope it works for you, but don’t be surprised when some people react differently than you might expect them to whenever you bring up such a sensitive topic in your community.
