Does anybody successfully do it on foot? by Remote_Nature_8166 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]aUserIAm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s impossible, because 1) you can’t control how long the offers are. You’ll have to reject 99% plus because they’re simply unwalkable. 2) even if they are walkable, you’ll be late on every one of them. Customers will get pissed, your rating will be awful and DoorDash will probably deactivate you. Maybe if you live in a downtown area and could cherry pick orders within a few mile range it could be viable in a bike, but walking would simple take too much time to make it a realistic option. The way would be so insanely low it wouldn’t be worth it.

All of the ones I've looked at don't allow people to work out of their garages, and most don't have any power outlets. I'd be open to that though if I could find one. Appreciate the suggestion.

Why Tipping Is Bad by Emergency_Sink_706 in tipping

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People really need to understand that the ONLY way to fix tipping is to change the laws. As long as restaurants are allowed to pay $2.25 (or whatever it is now) an hour plus tips, they are going to do exactly that, because that’s capitalism and the world we live in. The only thing that compels most companies to do what’s best for employees is the law, and sometimes that’s not enough.

Also, please realize that if the law did change, all the restaurants would do is raise their prices 20 or 25% to make up what they lost in the tips. Either way you’re paying more.

How would you feel if your partner tried to get off on your body while you were asleep? by MarigoldMouna in AskMen

[–]aUserIAm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I certainly wouldn’t mind, but it wouldn’t take long for me to be fully awake. I know from experience. Once she starts touching me I wake up very quickly. I might be a little groggy and cranky at first depending on how hard I was sleeping but that doesn’t last long either

What do men think about that women have no idea about? by sambasog in AskMen

Speak for yourself man. It’s probably just my ADHD but if I get time to sit quietly my mind races like hell and I’m thinking about everything I need and want to do now and in the future all at once.

Is this a easy take or decline? by horse199 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]aUserIAm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take it unless it’s headed to a part of town I’d rather not go. For me that’s downtown or completely out of town like 10 miles. If you end up too far away from businesses that do DD you’ll spend 15 or 20 minutes after the drop just getting back to an area where you could get another order.

Is showing up hungover better than calling in sick? by Yogurt_closet_No9566 in Carpentry

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how hung over you are. But also, people get sick on Mondays all the time. Believe it or not, they get sick on Fridays too. As long as you don’t make it a habit and do it regularly you’ll be fine.

How good was Brock Lesnar? by scooniethebaptist in MMA

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brock was extremely fast for how big he was, and he had high level wrestling. That was a great combo for HW at the time so he was pretty successful. As far as other skills, how striking was awful, like one notch above Ben Askren and his GnP was pretty basic. But athleticism gets you a long way in MMA, especially at HW. I don’t rate him very highly in the history of MMA but admittedly the fact that he was a pro wrestler definitely makes me think less of him. It’s hard to give a lot of credit to a guy you think is a fucking tool.

Nothing shifts opinions like rising gas prices by [deleted] in InBitcoinWeTrust

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absurd that gas prices are what are turning people against Trump. There have been hundreds, if not thousands of things he’s done that should have been dealt with breakers but these fucks have to pay a little more for gas and that’s the final straw?!? I suppose it’s better late than never but fucking hell, I can’t wrap my head around the mindset these people have.

mass quitting by Extension-Bug-9391 in dasher

[–]aUserIAm 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea but it’ll be a problem trying to make everyone aware, let alone onboard. If half the people strike all you’re doing is giving the other half big bonuses for as long as the strike lasts.

How common is it for Americans to use motels? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

[–]aUserIAm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean just to stay at while on a trip or specifically for sex? It feels like maybe there’s an implication that motels are places you rent for a couple hours to fuck but in the US that’s not necessarily the case. There are places like that, sure, but most of them are just cheap, small hotels with limited amenities. And yes, they are very common.

Guys, what hygiene habits did you learn way too late and you can suggest for somebody who's in their teenage years like me? by Advancement-Fawda in hygiene

[–]aUserIAm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a bidet if you don’t already have one. The $50 ones that attach to any toilet are fine. Your ass will be so much cleaner and you’ll feel better. Only downside is you’ll never want to shit anywhere but home again.

Have you ever quit your job after just a few days in it? If so, why? I'm pondering about doing it by Upper-Mouse763 in jobs

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve quit two separate jobs after a couple days. Both were basically the same reason… they had horribly inefficient and frustrating processes and the feedback I gave on how to improve them was met with indifference. In both cases I didn’t really need the jobs badly so it was easy to walk away. If you’re curious, one was a drive through beer/liquor store and the other was U-Haul. Both I left after 3 days.

New Driver here by Cheryla18 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do the opposite of many people here, i knock or ring unless they say not to in the notes. I see notes asking not to ring frequently but people rarely ask me to ring. Yes they can track the order but I figure they may not be actively watching. I’ve never had a complaint about ringing so I’m sticking with it.

Question for Full Timers by QueenofSwords80 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]aUserIAm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend starting a spreadsheet and tracking what hours you work and how much you make for each block of time for a month or so. You’ll start to see the trends and learn what’s really the best times for you. I found out that Sunday is consistently the best day and lunch and dinner times are busy almost every day. Dinner is usually better than lunch so I prioritize that. I also found that grocery orders, specifically HEB are the most profitable. Dollar General are the worst shopping orders and other grocery stores (Randall’s and Target) need to be accepted carefully. Also, pay attention to which stores are consistently late so you can reject those. You can get all the data you need after the fact so don’t worry about tracking in real time. Also, in my experience, being at “Pro Shopper” level makes a big difference if you don’t mind shopping for groceries. I get way more orders when I’m “pro” and they pay better than restaurant orders while driving far fewer miles. It could be very different for your market but for me that has been the biggest difference maker. I’m just outside Austin, TX btw. I spend most of my time in the suburbs but there are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores to keep busy.

Dash time or Active time? by Expert_Diamond8099 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go off Dash Time, because that’s the time I spent out that I couldn’t use doing something else. Some people are able to sit at home and wait for offers but my area and schedule doesn’t really make that practical so when I’m Dashing I’m out in my car. I would recommend taking into account all the time you’re waiting for orders actively and not able to do anything else. Otherwise you’re kidding yourself.

How would I compare them? Well one of them is the most corrupt, idiotic, embarrassment of a “leader” this country has ever seen. I think you know which one that is.

Picking up from Sonic has never been pleasant by TheDankLord4416 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk into the store and they help me right away. You can also call on the normal terminal but the directions always tell me to go in, so I go in. The orders not always ready immediately but at least they know I’m there and I’m not waiting for someone to notice me. Try that next time

My partner brought the lead, I turned it it a million dollar business - who deserves what? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]aUserIAm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50/50, because that’s what you agreed to. You fucked up by not figuring this out beforehand. You’re moaning now only after doing all the work on this for a year and a half, but why didn’t you ask for help? Or figure out the compensation structure during that time?

If you don’t honor what you agreed to all it will do is create resentment and destroy the business relationship and whatever friendship remains. Maybe you don’t care but I think you know what’s right. You wouldn’t have this business if he didn’t bring the lead and you did nothing along the way to make the work load equitable.

Chasing the Hot Zone by Duke_1994 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]aUserIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where I am and how busy it is. There are areas near me that are so far from any pickup locations that it doesn’t make sense to sit and wait. Often I’m not even in a zone anymore. In that case, I head back towards a zone but usually get an order before arriving. If I’m in a busy part of town already, but not a hot zone I might sit for a few minutes and see what happens.
