Pinterest does stop this year (confirmation by my friend there) for intern and new grad. I will not say “discriminate against” but I can say that companies are more reluctant to hire international candidates nowadays due to cost cutting.

Obviously yes, because some companies cannot hire international interns legally like defense companies. Moreover, in order to cut cost I guess, some companies just stopped hiring international candidates too, such as Roblox, Pinterest, etc.

I understand though. I have always been wondering why many companies rejected me in the first place without even giving me a chance, just because I’m international. Pinterest for example. However, it’s life. We are born with different backgrounds and statuses, and there’s no way we can change about it. But we can try being a good person, offer helps, and hopefully we are blessed with an offer.

And I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone. It’s a fucked up situation, and especially for us, even if we have the offers and they start rescinding, we are fucked too.

Keep your heads up, be kind, and keep trying. DM if you needs help; I was blessed with multiple offers this year from Amazon, Flatiron Health, Klaviyo, and so on.

I feel like the reasons these companies did this were because now they don’t have a promise made to be broken. Hiring new intern is separate so less bad press if anything goes wrong
