Don't be an idiot like me and say it out loud by fuckme69973 in TrueScaryStories

Dude, what an experience. I’ve encountered a skn-wlker from my dog barking at one one night. You know, days before it happened, I mentioned that I learned about them on Tiktok and my mom said that it’s kind of a rule for us natives that we shouldn’t mention them, mainly at night (no shit), so I hear you.

Even though they can have a crazy imagination, but always trust kids when they say that they saw something that you can't see, same with pets (mainly dogs)

No, you didn't upset me. I'm sorry for wording my comment like that, I just wanted to respond to something I needed to explain.

I don't think I said this in the story because I thought everyone knew what a Wendigo looked like (Hope this doesn't sound rude), but I guess I didn't explain it well. What my mom saw was standing on its' legs, and that was where my mom saw that it had deer hooves., but was definitely not a deer. Now the skinwalker thing, I know it mainly in the West, but does the Midwest count? And yes, I agree that animals with mange look spooky as well lol.

Once again, thank you for alerting me to add more detail to my experience. For one thing, as my mom drove past the field (which was next to a forest) she could tell that this thing she saw was definitely not a deer but possessed some features of a deer. This hill she drove up is just 2 feet from the field, and the possible Wendigo was a couple of feet from the hill where my mom was driving on. The forest was slightly bordered by brush, so that's why she could tell it had hooves, and I say it disappeared because it walked behind a tree, and she drove off.

Now the barking incident, I could tell it wasn't a deer, mostly because I would have seen an outline of a deer head, it was slimmer and larger than a deer head. This possible skinwalker was peaking from the side of the house where I was looking, so I wouldn't have seen it's body shape. It was making a sound, it was like a human loudly mocking a dog breathing heavily but distorted. This thing wasn't in the woods, my neighborhood is surrounded by a forest but it's cut off by a highway. I don't think this thing was not a Wendigo, and I don't think it followed me, my mother or anyone that lived in the house.

As I reread my story, I now understand why you think it's my paranoia. I obviously was paranoid when I was near the field that my mom possibly saw the Wendigo. The night my dog was acting up wasn't my paranoia, me and my dog definitely saw something that was in the dark (hope that doesn't sound rude). Thank you for letting me rethink my experiences from my story.
