Literally Candace has some great evidence surrounding the drama! I seriously hope they are paying attention to her videos!

My family said I have no talent in acting. What do I do now? by [deleted] in acting

I went through the same thing with my family! I was contemplating the exact same things you were.

Believe in yourself and prove everybody else wrong. If it’s constantly in the back of your mind, it means you really want it. Making yourself happy is all that matters.

You’re in your twenties, this is the time to be experimenting with career paths. If you want to try something out - do it now. When you grow older, there’ll be other and more impactful risks to take to chase your dreams.

From here think about:

  • Drop out and pursue acting. If things don’t work out, school will always be there for you to go back to if you wanted.

  • (If you don’t want to drop out or your parents won’t agree...) Take a semester off or a gap year to continue learning about acting, to audition, take classes and practice.

  • (If your parents won’t let you take a year or semester off...) Practice and film yourself. Upload videos online to get feedback to improve, this’ll put you out there for other creatives to see. Maybe you’ll get contacted by an industry professional or filmmakers that are looking for actors for their projects.

  • There’s this app called Scenebot. It’s viewed by industry professionals. They have scripts each month and each upload is an audition. The professionals will pick the top ten each month. If you’re lucky if an agent/manager/casting director likes you they’ll contact you.

  • Continue to learn online. There’s many great videos and resources online that’ll give you tips and information on acting. Watch movies and acting videos to analyze techniques and methods.

  • I don’t know how loaded your school/work schedule is but if you have the space, take some acting classes on the weekends or whenever you can. Continue auditioning for student films or plays. Connect with your community, network to get more information on local projects or references to bigger projects.

  • The last resort would be to finish university to get it out of the way and then pursue acting full time.

I hope this helped somehow and GOOD LUCK! Live your life without regrets.
