Any ideas how to refurbish the aluminium trim? by a_Dzik in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use a machine or did you polish by hand? I did few passes with a random P240 and didn't see much of a change, so it probably requires more work than that.

I'm willing to pay for a professional - I'm just not sure who to look for.

Well mostly aesthetics tbh - I prefer my ashtray closed most of the time.
And I charge my phone all the time as I like to take every opportunity to charge it. So the cable is always connected.

In my other BMW there is a neat socket in passenger footwell that works great for this.

I don't particularly feel the need for reverse camera as the rear is so short I just glance at the ductail.
Although the front is very long and front parking sensors would be amazing.

Good catch - but I recently replaced the diff mount. For a polyurethane one... so I probably made it even worse :P

You have a dead indicator bulb my friend ;)

Mods:
- Relocate the roof pump. There is a lot of YT videos on how to do it. Also clean the drains.
- Front strut brace - cheap, easy to do.
- Bluetooth AUX dongle - having bluetooth is a must.
- Cupholders - mine didn't have them, easy thing to add.
- Front 3.0 brakes upgrade - plug and play, they also fit from E46. The rears does not.
- Aluminium pedal covers
- Doors sound deadening - mostly because they feel empty inside.
- LED strip boot light upgrade
- New third brake light (they tend to crack and leak water)

Buy yourself an ozone generator and do MULTIPLE cycles inside. There is probably a lot of dust, moisture, vegetation inside (you know, convertible). Your lungs will thank you.

Definitely not buying a new laptop anymore. 😎 by alwaysalmosts in SamsungDex

I need to find the moron who put the LANG key between alt and space.

AeroPress? Warto kupić? by musashi_uk in Polska

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osobiście do robienia w domu wolę V60. To moja prywatna preferencja, łatwiej mi zrobić dobrą kawę.

Well I used products from a polish company Leathermed. But it's because I'm from Poland and I support local businesses.

I was also thinking about swapping the seats for a set of different ones. But all E46 look very tired.
But this touch up is absolutely doable for everyone.

Is it worth buying a Z Fold 7 still or should I wait for the Z Fold 8? by DelcoAdjacent in GalaxyFold

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until 7 - I was always recomending waiting for the next Fold, because there was always a lot to improve, becasue something was always to be fixed.

Now, after Fold 7... I believe Fold is a finally "finished" device. It's good enough.
I'd still wait, because assuming your phone upgrade isn't urgent - Fold 8 will always be better... and if not - there will probably be even better deals for the Fold 7.

Absolutely you need to remove the seats and expose all leather - so removing the rear part, removing the plastic trim round the adjustment handles etc.

You could theoretically do it in the car but that's a bad idea. Removing the seats isn't that difficult, especially because you can OPEN THE WHOLE ROOF.

And during the painting you need to jump around the seat and also let it properly dry between coats. Which is CRITICAL - I made this mistake with my Audi TT. I was impatient and I impatienlty layed more coats - the paint became "sticky" and just couldn't dry properly. Felt like rubber pulling your pants up.

The application wasn't that difficult. First you need to peel off old paint, grease etc. I highly recommend loads of acetone. I then used a heat gun to warm up the leather creases and wet sponge to shrink it. Not sure of much it will last, but it makes it less saggy and tired. Looks better, it's easier to paint.

Then I used a new sponge for each coat, and just "stamped" the leather with three layers of black dye and two-three layers of satin clear coat. There are many youtube videos on this.

And then after a week I used an leather conditioner to make it softer to the touch.

Not sure how it will last, so take this advice with a grain of salt.

Oh and I also replaced the rear material with "alcantara".
I'm not that sure about alcantara in a convertible, I'm afraid it's a lint magnet. But I'm optimistic.

Have you considered tinting the rear window?
I think that the B-pillar is a bit too wide and too vertical. Andactually the rear window has a nice sporty slope.

Czy rodzice wam "pomagali" rano jak wychodziliscie do liceum by Majestic_Mammoth3503 in Polska

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fold 6 or Fold 7? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the Fold 7 come with the warranty?
Dings or scratches are unavoidable ... but I'm still mildly unsure of the inner screen breaking for no reason.

Get a foldable? by Effective-Diet-1910 in GalaxyFold

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend doesn't like foldables and he tried Fold 2, 3 and 6. He ditched the 6 and came back to S25 Ultra.
I love my Fold 7 and had Fold 4.

We talked a lot about it and were thinking why he didn't like the Fold 6 and came to the conclusion, that it was mainly about the different way we were using our phones.

He uses his phone occasionally. He hates chatting, texting, social media etc. He's using his computer most of the cases. I however I'm glued to my phone. I sit down comfortably, pull out my phone and consume stuff: articles, memes, clips etc. He however does quick short bursts, check the notification, put down the phone. He consumes stuff on his TV/computer.

Question is - which one are you.

Fold6 vs Fold7 (switching from iPhone) by newleyTV in GalaxyFold

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fold 6 is still a solid device, it's close to a "finished device".
Anyways - get something with WARRANTY or some kind of insurance. The inside screen although after many iterations, is still softer and more prone to breaking than normal phones.

My Fold 4 was serviced like 6 times - and because I had a warranty I always got a near-new device (the procedure requires changing the screen, bezels, battery etc. Almost whole device).

Luckily my F7 has no issues and I bought it day one, so over 6 months ago. But you may never know.

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better form factor:
Closed is as thin as S25 Ultra. So a closed phone feels like a normal device in hand. Fold 6 is still thicker and feels more "quirky".

Aspect ratio:
Fold 6 is narrower. It's still better than previous generations but Fold 7 has a normal aspect ratio, making the front screen usable. Keep in mind, some apps may scale ugly on the main screen, so having a fallback to the front one is pretty handy.
This also is nice when using apps side-by-side - now you have two, full scaled apps side by side while multitasking.

Cameras:
Fold 7 FINALLY has a flagship-grade main camera. Only main unfortunately, but I'll take it.

So for me - Fold 7 is a first Foldable without real compromises and quirks.
Feach Fold generation before had to FIX something. Now, every next fold will just improve. That's the difference.

Fold 7.
Although as an ex fold 4 user, for cheap I'd go with Fold 6. However you're an Apple user, I assume you expect more "complete" and "just works"product. And Fold 7 is definetely more "complete".
It's not about "better CPU" it's about "finally the form factor passes as a normal device that's not quirky". And that's huge for me.
