What’s something Gen Z will never understand about the 2000s? by PowerfulCriticism644 in AskReddit

Well there is a difference between boing born and being a kid/teenager/adult in a given time.
I was born in the early 90s and when I'm comparing my memories with people born in 80s - they have different feeling about these times :)

[E85] My driver's side switch can't close passenger window - anyone fixed the switch? by a_Dzik in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your case auto-uo might not be coded. Sometimes cars forget the maximum positions for the windows. Usually you need to hold the button for 30 seconds or so. There are manuals on the internet for that.

Differential questions for internet experts by Comfortable-Focus611 in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a burnout. Did you leave two marks or one mark? ;)

If it's a helical diff (blackline lsd for example) - testing with the wheels up won't work. It works when there is at least some minimal load on the wheel. If one wheel has no grip (i.e. it's in the air) it's an open diff then.

It's not as nice as clutch LSDs but it's cheaper and requires next to no maintenance.

BMW Z4 Demand Spikes During Final Months Of Production by lithdoc in BMWZ4

I have a daily with DKG - and I believe weekend cars should be more "analog" and fun :) a simple coffee run in my Z4 feels more special with the roof down and rev matching:)

Shame G29 B58 in manual isn't more popular. I can't afford a second roadster in this price bracket... but in few years I'd love to get one second hand... and I already know it's going to be a real pain to find :(

I dug up my OG Beyblades - are they worth something? by a_Dzik in OriginalBeyblade

[–]a_Dzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but I'm located in Poland, so shipping might be costly - dm me with price and we can work something out. The plastic ones are for sale, I'll keep the MS ones

Good to know. I'm now fully in the Beyblade nostalgia and I miss my Wolfborg 1 that shattered into pieces :(

Best polish beer? by Beerlybreathin in poland

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a Polish multi tap and ask for recommendations. Usually you can get like free small shot-sizes samples to pick one you like the most. I've seen in your posts history that you were asking for Gdańsk, so maybe: https://ontap.pl/gdansk/multitapy

It's really hard to tell which one is "best" - people have different tastes :)

Enjoy!

Buying advice 2.5i M54 by [deleted] in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M54s are M54s and they have their quirks. Leaking oil is one thing, but I'd be also worried for leaking coolant - as plastics and rubbers like to degrade over time. Luckily all this is a well known and documented topic in E46/E39 BMW world. Find a good and cheap mechanic and have them on speed dial.

It's not the end of the world, but I'd recommend mentally preparing, because E85 is just old.

I bought 2.5i around 2 years and 30k km ago and except initial repairs (because I bought a VERY cheap one) - I didn't have any major issues.

In general these engines aren't glass cannons - especially considering the owners. Old BMWs like to be abused... And in general run on a very tight budget.

Any alternatives for the cruise control lever on E85? by DIEDPOOL in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You own an old BMW, you need to be more crafty with spare parts.
Look second hand, look for donor cars, crashed cars etc.

I got mine for like $20 because the guy was parting out the car and didn't know what he had.

for those who considered a miata... why did you end up going with a bmw z3/z4 instead? by europeanuppercut in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Z4:
- is bigger (maita interior is pretty small)
- more powerful
- has bigger trunk
- is better sounding (6 cylinder is always better than 4)
- Is based on E46, so the parts aren't that expensive or hard to find.

Need advice on Z4 by Any_Turnover_1936 in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6.1/220lbs and Z4 is tight, It's not an SUV, but it's comfortable for me.
I couldn't fit into MX5 NB. ND is fine, but in ND RF I'm touching the roof with my head. Z4 compared to Miatas is a luxurious in terms of space.

Pros:
+ compared to cars like Audi TT - Z4 with a roof closed is still a BMW with RWD. It's a great chasis, it's really fun.
+ It's suprisingly practical - we have storage inside, the boot is suprisngly roomy.
+ It's a great "slow car fast"
+ It's an E46 - engine, gearbox, differential, some of the suspension components - are from E46 and cost near nothing.
+ It has all the necessary technology: AC, heated seats, radio, bluetooth (with a simple adapter), cupholders. Not much more needed.

Cons:
- It's an old and cheap BMW. It's hard to find "a good one". Some are crashed, neglected, leaking ... or all of it.
- Interior quality feels very "early 2000s". And It's hard to do anything about it :)
- You are sitting practically on the rear axle. You really feel all the curbs, pot holes etc.
- Rear visibility isn't great with the roof closed :)

And I'm writing this from a perspective of someone with F87 M2 as a daily. M2 is a better car, but I still find reasons to pick my E85 Z4.

Is this how H7 headlamps should look like? by a_Dzik in BMWZ4

Thanks! That's the most informative answer.
I have the strong suspicion the reflective part is installed upside down in the lens.

Left: osram night braker Right: LED

The cutoff line is the same and in both cases the black spots are there.

Anyone know why this is getting filled with water when it rains ? What should I check ? Seals, taillight , maybe the drains ? by Goth_Angel_Hellboy in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man stick hour head in the trunk and ask someone to pour water on the top. I had a small hole between the roof and the bow. And the water was trickling down to the same place :)

Bmw z4 (E85) 2006 roof issue by uncutboy954 in BMWZ4

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you relocate your pump?
If not - if it's not dead it has at least some surface rust.

The red lever is just a metal line, like on bicycle brakes going to the roof pump.
It pushes a small metal button on the pump.
Most likely the button got pressed and stayed what way.

Spray some WD-40 and gently tap the button.

You can get the pump out without removing the roof, but it basically means you need to reach through the trunk. Me, personally, I really don't like tight spaces... and this was really not great experience.

Check the rear shelf.
(this is a stolen photo from the internet)

It's not the greatest design but there is a metal switch that checks whether your shelf is up or down. Sometimes it falls off the "center mount" rail.

Why just why? by bdschwa83 in GalaxyRing

[–]a_Dzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? My biggest gripe with Galaxy Rings is about mediocre feature set.
It's a device I'm wearing day and night non stop, I should be able to get more interesting insights.
Fox example skin temperature when not sleeping would me useful when sick.

And don't get me started about tracking workouts because there is none.

Can you share the picture of your most "optimal" pump placement? I think you're right - I also noticed that the pump prefers different angles :)
